So after the war we've had two administrations, no WMDs found or likely to be found, control of some cities handed over to iraqis then taken back from them in the space of days. People are still unprovided with water or sanitation.

This is the thread where we discuss iraq post war, whilst bushco rattle their sabres at Iran.

Tony Blair has just started touring Iraq. Wouldn't it be a funny coincidence if his entourage happened to trip over some chemical weapons whilst he's wandering round?

About time. If there's one thing this war's been lacking it's footage of a Prime Minister riding on a tank.

how about stepping on a mine¿

dyson (dyson), Friday, 30 May 2003 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

That's mean. I don't think Blair is an evil man who deserves to die. I just think he's a naive, spineless wuss.

More deserving of death: evil men, or spineless wusses in positions of power?

Obi Wan: Who's more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?

Now Rumsfeld is saying the WILL find the WMDs. Will anyone beleive them when they do?

Ed (dali), Friday, 30 May 2003 06:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, if this all makes Rumsfeld look even more laughable, there could yet be an upside.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 May 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

is that possible tho?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 30 May 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Speaking of laughable

"Snowflakes and Rummygrams" sounds so twee.

six years pass...

Sad times.

The look on this guy's face when the explosion happens says it all. It's like a combination of "holy shit" and "for fuck's sake" and "yeah, whatever."

The three best pieces I've read, though alas I do think they're all paywalled one way or another

https://plus.thebulwark.com/p/iraq-war-invasion-20th-anniversary

https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2023-03-19/iraq-war-20th-anniversary-remembrance

Still remember the monthly threads I started. Some attempt at an accounting.
