I'm high and I heart ILE!!

yes I know I said I would see you in a few days. But you know what? I missed you!

I think this is a highly intelligent and tasteful board and I enjoy your takes on things. Needless to say the events of this week cry out for intelligent and tastelful.

I've tried to avoid all the world's trauma today b/c it was affecting me badly. But alas my man is at White Stripes (*) tonight and I am alone. I met him and his friend at our local dive bar for a couple before the show. After they left I stayed drinking and watching the news. It made me want to come home and check in on this board.

Which I did. But only after smoking a bowl. Now I feel much more capable of dealing! (isn't that sad).

I guess the point of my post is that I know I don't know you guys (and I know you know me even less since I was a lurker) but I still care about you and am glad you are here.

I think my dog just ate a bar of soap. ..stupid dog. .

* re: White Stripes. I'm sure there's a thread about them on ILM but I'm just too lazy to check. Opinions? I don't mind them but I'm not nuts about them enough to spend $12 on them tonight. Jack sounds too much like Robert Plant too often for my comfort. Thoughts?

Is this a question?

Yes, White Stripes: c or d?

Samantha, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

c AND d

I think probably a big part of how I remember all this will be constantly checking ILE - for news, testimonies, debates, voices of sanity, and community. Admittedly I constantly check ILE all day but this has been slightly different. Thanks everyone for their eloquence.

The White Stripes are rubbish.

I like the White Stripes, but for some strange reason I'm having trouble interesting myself in trying to explain why at the moment. I like the Color Guard, the Hissyfits, the Gore Gore Girls, and Fabulous Disaster more, though, if you want some up-to-date recommendations for U.S. indie rock.

I think the White Stripes are good because they give me hope that me and my sister will not despise each other forever and some day we will band together to write songs that are deceptively simple. This is not lie.

Also, echoing earlier sentiments, I cannot say enough good things about ILE for the last three days, and I have said them, even to friends. I found myself v. relieved when all o the people behind these blips on the screen turned out to be alright. Me = deranged lurker, of course, but the discussions here have rivalled and probably bettered anything else that I have been reading lately and attempting to turn to for comfort/answers/questions/cheap-thrills. Except for Jude Devereaux maybe.

Oh I'm sick of the White Stripes. Talking about it her e, I'll never get round to writing a proper "article about it. Listen to the Hentchmen or the Doll Rods instead, I reckon. Or Budgie.

i wonder if this cracked him up for 10 minutes or made him really depressed. bcuz if he was "really high" then those would be the only two reactions.

Needless to say the events of this week cry out for intelligent and tastelful.

Curtis' birthday definitely cries out for I&T. I henceforth dedicate this extract to the memory of his teenagehood, which by my calculations has but a couple of hours yet to run, and all the out-of-context ILX quoting that happened during that teenagehood.
