Strange delusions.

Cheers is on and I've just remembered that as a kid I always thought it was Woody singing the theme tune; but it can't be because Woody wasn't in it until Coach left/died. Yet still when the music cranked up I was convinced it was him singing. Why is this? Who else has strange delusions that, even though you know they can't be true, you still can't help but believe?

I always believed that Nicholas Lyndhurst sang the theme to Only Fools And Horses until I staked my reputation on it at work the other day and was proved absolutely wrong, thus losing my colleagues' doubtful respect as an authority on Minder and OFAH...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Friday, 30 May 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I always thought that too! Why is this?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 30 May 2003 10:44 (twenty-two years ago)

yeh i used to think that, it sounds amazingly like Nicholas Lyndhurst...did Dennis Waterman actually sing the theme to Minder as well? i know he released a version of it

stevem (blueski), Friday, 30 May 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I also thgt it too! I think Dennis Waterman did sing it.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 30 May 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

SO - who sang the theme tune to Only Fools & Horses then? Not David Jason.

apparently there are people in the world who think that Bob Holness from Blockbusters played the sax break on Baker Street. it almost makes sense, i mean NO ONE knows what he did before Blockbusters, do they?

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

He was James Bond in a radio series and in Vosene adverts. I thought everyone knew that.

Ed (dali), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember that Bob Holness rumour, classic!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

The 'new' theme to OFAH (second series onwards) was composed and sung by the writer, John Sullivan.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

OFAH was Chas 'n' Dave wasn't it?

In their pre-Eminem days.

mei (mei), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

dr legge plays the syndrums in the original eastenders themetune

mark s (mark s), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

it's not a delusion though that at some point they matched the olde-tymey pictures at the beginning of Cheers with the names of the cast members on the screen, right?

scott seward, Friday, 30 May 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

did you know that one of the characters on Captain Pugwash was called - etc.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

scott it may have been a lucky synchronicity but still it worked, Carla and Diane i remember it specifically working for

my dad was James Burroughs's camp counselor!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i swear it's true!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry i mean "burrows" - i searched to see if my dad's memory of going to camp w/him has any validity, however no records of texas summers in the celeb bios i have perused :(

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

it works for sam and coach and woody too.

scott seward, Friday, 30 May 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

does woody still have his air bar in L.A.? that was some kind of delusion.

scott seward, Friday, 30 May 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

forget jumping the shark, am i delusional in thinking that happy days started to suck after they changed the theme song from rock around the clock to that awful happy days song? the chuck cunningham years were much grittier.

scott seward, Friday, 30 May 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry-too much coffee-i haven't seen happy days in years-my brain is misfiring-it was that crane thread, i think-i actually googled for pictures of whooping cranes after i read that one

scott seward, Friday, 30 May 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

the cosby show was never the same once they stopped using "black steel in the hour of chaos" over the opening dance moves

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)
