How high is the bridge?

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 30 May 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Shut the fuck up and join Friendster, LOSER!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Friday, 30 May 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

No, mom! Jeez! Leave me alone already!

teeny (teeny), Friday, 30 May 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

if it wasn't a very high bridge, and there was deep water beneath, and it was summertime and I was wearing proper swimming attire, why not?

hstencil, Friday, 30 May 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

haha I did sign up for Friendster but it kept telling me the password I put in was wrong.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 30 May 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

is it like in that old computer game lemmings? are we all jumping off one by one?

jel -- (jel), Friday, 30 May 2003 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait... which bridge are we jumping off of? I joined this thread late.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 30 May 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I am the bridge.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Friday, 30 May 2003 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Haven't you people ever seen Saturday Night Fever?

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 30 May 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

If ILX was my hot sister and we were moments away from being killed by Stormtroopers and I had my funky fresh grappling hook and cable to swing on, then I don't have much of a choice, do I?

Millar (Millar), Friday, 30 May 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Where's that confounded bridge?

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 30 May 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Connecticut Avenue Bridge aka "suicide bridge"

When were you last in DC? The Duke Ellington Bridge is supposed to be the suicide bridge. (So the safety Nazis installed protective bars, and a number of aesthetes threatened to commit hara-kiri in protest.)

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 30 May 2003 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I think we should all jump off the bridge in Metallica's Harvester of Sorrow.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 30 May 2003 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I was counting the days until the group suicide pact would be initiated.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Friday, 30 May 2003 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Pasadena's suicide bridge (1913, but just about completely rebuilt about ten years ago). And no.

Amst. I love you.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 30 May 2003 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Mary, I think we should just be friends.

amateurist (amateurist), Friday, 30 May 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

this a typically ILXuriant trick question, right? no water under the bridge, surely?

*not jumping, watching*

The suicide restraint bars were installed on the bridge a long time ago. I am not sure if they really could stop anyone from taking the plunge into the next life.

Oh, to answer your quesiton... I was in DC about 2 years ago. I had a really nice time. I didn't think I would feel as warm about the city as I did.

Roman (Roman), Saturday, 31 May 2003 01:20 (twenty-two years ago)

(Ouch.)

Mary (Mary), Saturday, 31 May 2003 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Will there be a FAP afterwards?

That Girl (thatgirl), Saturday, 31 May 2003 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

if ILX would hand me a cue on a summer trend as fun as last summers disco punk, I would jump off that bridge.
I've heard nice new songs from postal service and motocompo so it looks to me this summer will be techno pop by default, which is very nice.

Sébastien Chikara (Sébastien Chikara), Saturday, 31 May 2003 04:05 (twenty-two years ago)

theres a lovely overbridge behind my flat, perfect cos i can push y'all off it and then if you aren't dead yet i can run you over. well, i would if i was satan. which i might be.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 31 May 2003 05:22 (twenty-two years ago)

why don't you come in, the water's lovely!

Erik, Saturday, 31 May 2003 06:25 (twenty-two years ago)

No, I would be too busy watching everyone argue the politics of jumping off of a bridge. This would take three months. I would then be outcasted as a 'troll' during the arguments. Invariably watching everyone jump to their deaths after deciding it was a classic thing to do.

doom-e (Jam), Saturday, 31 May 2003 07:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The thing is, if I were to jump off a bridge, the rest of ILx most assuredly wouldn't. Works both ways...

Pipecock Jackxon, Saturday, 31 May 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

it's been cospicuously desolate on this thread lately...
did i miss something while fetching me binoculars?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 31 May 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

i like the idea of having a fap afterward--in HELL.

amateurist (amateurist), Saturday, 31 May 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Fancy a pitchfork?

(this is a good joke because it works on several different levels)

s1utsky (slutsky), Saturday, 31 May 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

to ans the orig q:

no. let the fucker die.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 31 May 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Haven't you people ever seen Saturday Night Fever?

*raises hand feebly*

"Hey, just cuz you're kickin' in for food don't mean that you ain't gotta eat. You still gotta eat."
"I got my shirt on."
"Your mother's sauce... it don't drip... it don't taste, and it don't drip."

[IIRC]

And of course, there's always, "Would you just watch the hair?"

Am I sad enough yet?

p.s.: I wouldn't jump off that bridge. I'm already a documented oddity -- why should I break my track record?

Dee the Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 31 May 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I would only jump off the bridge if we would then be encountered by mermaids as "Porpoise Song" played in the background and then we would all have to recreate the entirety of the Monkees' Head. I already got big Dolenz hair.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 31 May 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Hell no, I can't swim and the water's too deep. I'd prolly giggle as fearless others take the leap---or give a gentle shove to the few that annoy me.

Besides, why wet my clothes:>?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Sunday, 1 June 2003 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not? Lately I've felt like jumping off a bridge anyway.

enolaalone, Sunday, 1 June 2003 23:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Do people still bungee-jump? That's probably the best circumstance to jump off a bridge.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 2 June 2003 00:21 (twenty-two years ago)

queenstown to thread.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 2 June 2003 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)
