Do dogs like garlic?

I've never noticed. Just curious.

It kind of sounds like a question Jesus would ask rhetorically? "Do dogs like garlic? Do swine recognize their kin? When the Son of Man returns, who will be counted among the faithful?"

cats don't like citrus stuff apparently...dogs are rubbish so I don't know if they don't like garlic, being rubbish they probably hate the stuff

My dog, at least, will eat absolutely anything that fits in his mouth. So I'm sure he'd snarf down garlic if I dropped some.

dogs shouldn't eat chocolate, apart from the special doggie chocs, tho I know not why. prolly something in the cocoa, as they can't have a problem with the fat, can they? Might be lactose intolerance, I suppose.

I'm rambling - any vets on ILE who can tell us for definite?

Wolverines don't like pizza.

There's a compound called theobromine in chocolate that is poisonous to dogs.

They like garlic though. My dog would wolf down garlicky things as readily as anything else...

No they don't. If you ever have problems with your little fucker attacking a certain thing--it was the Xmas tree for me--put a lil dish of lemon juice right by it.

My dog carried around an onion for the better part of a day, occasionally stopping to munch on it (I STILL don't know where he got the fucking thing).

Dogs can always recognise vampires - they growl at them in films. Vampires fear garlic. Therefore um

if it's small enough to fit in their mouths, or small enough that a portion of it fits in their mouths, or merely somewhere where their mouths can reach, dogs like it.

yeah, don't they eat their own shit? Makes me think they're not too choosy.

garlic keeps the fleas away (from man and beast; you can mash it up and put it in either one's food, though it doesn't work nearly as well cooked)

I'm impressed that somebody actually came up with a way to make dogbreath WORSE!

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Garlic is very good for dogs, it does help to prevent them from getting fleas. I think it's supposed to be good for their hearts too. My dog loves garlic bread, but it puts me off kissing him.

(joke, honest)
