Assassins. screened last night. was good to be reminded that he can actually hold his own amongst scenery chewers banderas and moore. this being said, another rambo would be pushing the bounds of common decency.

In that case, then that's the film in which he might have held his own or asked someone to hold it for him.

First Blood was a fairly interesting film. I knew a guy who saw it at 12, and became obsessed, to the point of prowling through the long grass in his back garden with an air rifle, until he got ambushed by his neighbour's cat and shot it in the ensuing tussle. Trying to cover the murder up, he threw it on the road, not realising that however many cars mangled it, the bullet hole in its head was a bit of a giveaway.

This worsened relations with his neighbours further; they were already somewhat wary of him, after the Mrs Neighbour, who was doing her gardening one day, looked up and saw him leaning out the window with the rifle trained on her and got a little paranoid, not realising he was using the sight to get a look at her arse.

Funny how people get the wrong idea.

Jamie Conway (Jamie Conway), Monday, 2 June 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

No one mentioned Copland? He was great in that!

NA. (Nick A.), Monday, 2 June 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

has anyone noticed how many straight-to-vid things he's been in lately?
it's sorta sad, no?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 2 June 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Demolition Man!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 2 June 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

He really should make a movie where he and Schwarzoid square off, like Grumpy Old Men with Tomahawk missiles.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 2 June 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Stallone's playing the bad guy in the next Spy Kids movie, coming out this summer. (And it's in 3D!)

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 2 June 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

really, he deserves redemption. he does. I love the guy. he's not afraid to try things he's really really terrible at.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 2 June 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Jamie, what a funny story. I was lol.

... hole in the head ... looking at her arse

Jan Geerinck (jahsonic), Monday, 2 June 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

and which movie was he knitting in? With bignosebullock in female lead?

Jan Geerinck (jahsonic), Monday, 2 June 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Over The Top

jm (jtm), Monday, 2 June 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Did anyone see Driven? What a weird movie (and he wrote it, too!)

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 2 June 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

He wrote Rocky as well (and probably some of the sequels), and I think Rocky beat out Taxi Driver for best picture Oscar. I think. Somebody who cares can verify that.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 2 June 2003 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, Driven was, I think, the first movie he'd written since Rocky, so it's kind of interesting (well, in the loosest sense of the term) to look at it in that light.

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 2 June 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Rocky was indeed named Best Picture of 1976 by the Academy Awards, yes

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 2 June 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

ten years pass...

Largely because I couldn't immediately think of a reason not to that wouldn't cause offense, I have foolishly accepted an invitation to see the retrospective of Stallone's paintings on Saturday.
