Can someone please post a picture of the Verizon Wireless guy and put me out of my misery, so that I can finally understand why everyone in Portland this weekend was fucking freaking me out by coming

I weep for all the Clara Peller lookalikes in 1984.

He sounds better in the Spanish-language ads, he just seems like a typical Moz fan.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 2 June 2003 05:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

I look nothing like this guy. For one thing, he has hair.

My theory: Portland = blind + mental

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 2 June 2003 05:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

Well, is it possible that you looked like him this weekend?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 2 June 2003 05:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

Or you walked around w/a half-grin and a cellphone glued to your ear?

oops (Oops), Monday, 2 June 2003 05:32 (twenty-one years ago) link

It's gotta be the jacket.

Jen (nstop), Monday, 2 June 2003 06:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

That is bizarre, you look nothing like that Verizon guy. The Verizon guy is very punchably emo.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 2 June 2003 11:43 (twenty-one years ago) link

Whereas you are very snugglably emo. (HA HA DON'T HURT ME)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 2 June 2003 11:46 (twenty-one years ago) link

I don't have the time or the skills to do it, and my wife who's got the skills wouldn't think it a worthwhile use of the whole evening it'd take, but what I really really really wanna see is a version of the Verizon commercial that's been doctored in Cool Edit Pro so that everything's the same except that instead of sayin' "Can you hear me now?" the guy's saying "Has the world changed, or have I changed?"

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 2 June 2003 12:47 (twenty-one years ago) link

Dude, it's just our way of coming on to someone. "Can you hear me now?" = Portlandese for "Fancy a shag?"

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 2 June 2003 17:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

Dude, it's just our way of coming on to someone. "Can you hear me now?" = Portlandese for "Fancy a shag?"

Then that means most of those people, who happened to be between the ages of 8 and 14, wanted to have me. What kind of Sodom do you live in, Chris?

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:06 (twenty-one years ago) link

I had no idea that Portland was a hotbed of Verizon fantasies.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

Dude, you totally have that Mr Rogers/Catholic priest thing going for you. No child can resist!

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

"Hey, how do you tell the time at NAMBLA headquarters?"

"ur.... how?"

"You see where the big hand touches the little hand!"

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think the thing is no one is asking db if he was wearing a Verizon jacket. I think that was probably the problem.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

No, he was wearing a priest's robes.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:57 (twenty-one years ago) link

Can I hurt you now? Good!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:58 (twenty-one years ago) link

Wow! What a resemblance. Can someone say 'doppleganger'. cuz i can't.

oops (Oops), Monday, 2 June 2003 19:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Dude, he looks more like Matos in that picture than the Verizon dude. "Can I dance with you to 'The Passenger' now?"

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 2 June 2003 19:02 (twenty-one years ago) link

Matos and I were twins at the Seattle Fap thingy a month or so ago. Same blue mechanics jacket, same height, same startingly lack of hair, same scruffiness. And yes, the jacket I wore on Sat. evening admittedly explains the whole "Can you hear me Now?" fiasco.

I'm just a bit confused because I've gotten zip reactions like that in Seattle, where I'd expect a higher rate of commercial trainspotting.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 01:02 (twenty-one years ago) link

I prefer the Sprint guy.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 01:12 (twenty-one years ago) link

ARE YOU CRAZY?

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 01:33 (twenty-one years ago) link

Look, I mean, if it's universally agreed upon that the Verizon guy is a hottie, I can learn to live with the association...

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 03:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

OH MY GOD I'M IN LOVE WITH THE VERIZON GUY HE LIVES SOMEWHERE IN THE EAST VILLAGE MY FRIEND SAW HIM ON 7TH STREET ONCE WHO WANTS TO STALK HIM WITH ME

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 03:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

[seriously]

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 03:25 (twenty-one years ago) link

For clarification purposes:

Verizon guy: NOT HOTTIE!
Sprint guy: NOT HOTTIE!
donut bitch: MOTHAFUCKIN DEEP-FRIED SEX ON STICK!

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 10:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

As usual Daddino is otm. I can't believe any of you think either the Sprint or Verizon guy is hot, let alone hottt!

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 11:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

during a week-end in Seattle in the early 90s, I was approached by various seniors and juniors who thought I was Doogie Howser (M.D.)...

Fabrice (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

Mike and Nicole speak the truth -- crashing at his place for Memorial Day weekend was like being in Prince's boudoir. Er, maybe.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:26 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm strangely pleased with the turn of this thread.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:32 (twenty-one years ago) link

one month passes...
Oh my...

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 4 July 2003 02:24 (twenty-one years ago) link

I, for one, am glad that someone out there thinks Ed O'Neill is hott. (I don't, but the guy really deserves it)

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 4 July 2003 03:00 (twenty-one years ago) link
