LjMatch - It's the (even newer) thing

Those of you who frequent LiveJournal land may have spotted this one - LJ Match. At first, I thought it would just be a different approach to the matching interests tool they already have, but as I went to use it, it transpires it is not unlike Nerve personals in that it asks you all those same preference, appearance and pop psych questions.

So I signed up like a lemming (there are an awful lot of us living in Beverly Hills 90210 because they insisted on US zips, heh).

The thing that freaked me out the most was, upon asking it to show me my top matches, photo only, almost without exception the guys that came up were really old, large bald guys without shirts on *shudder* or... goths *SHUDDER!*.

Need one be more selective in the "what I'm looking for" to avoid this? Or are these things always that loaded with dodgy sorts? Anyone else used this? Comparisons to Nerve would be good.

Heh. I realised just now that for one thing I didnt narrow down the age range I was lookign for, so I was getting an alarming amount of older (I mean 40+) men and very very young over made up Manson clones. I narrowed it down and its a little better... but I dont think people are taking LJ Match seriously, theyre only signing up to use the "match me with my LJ friends list" function.
