"Don't go Dagenham"

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Teeny I don't think that phrase is meant to calm, uh, people down.

I've always preferred "nipple cripple" to "titty twister" but that has nothing to do with this thread.

chester (synkro), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

no it is! Just say it in a puppy voice: "Hey, lil' cowboy, don't worry!"

Although now that I think about it I see the confusion. Yeehah!

Nellie (nellskies), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

The Irish (particularly Dublin?) expression "relax the head" -- "relax the head, there, now..." -- tends to be used by individuals who are patently *apoplectically* unrelaxed, leading to great outburts along the lines of "JESUS!!! WOULD YOU EVER FUCKIN' RELAX THE HEAD OR WHAT??!!!!" Other great Dublin expression (best used by little old man crossing street very slowly in front of steamingly furious traffic) = "stall the ball...".

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Before the Bart Simpson t-shirts made the phrase unspeakable, "Don't have a cow" was a fine example of this.
