Davel, Thursday, 5 June 2003 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

haha the return of davel - how long has it been since you were last here - over a year easily - did you just get the bug again , bored or a lurker type

james (james), Thursday, 5 June 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

It's been a while James, how is your reign of terror over Autumn going?
Anyway more Bad Food how about:

Dried Iranian Fish,

davel, Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

hamburgers in a can

Ed (dali), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

How about frozen microwaveable omlettes??

Hey Davel, how the devil are ya hun?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Pease pudding

Alex in Rotherham (Alex in Doncaster), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:18 (twenty-two years ago)

pease pudding is fantastic

Ed (dali), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm fine thanks Pinkpanther, how are you?

Those frozen Faggots that you get in a tin foil tray??

Davel, Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

James loves those faggots i'll have u know!!

I'm cool cheers petal! xx

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

the only time I had those was a a free sample during british faggot week as a free sample, they weren't that bad.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was younger my mum used to make me eat loads of faggots. I think that has really put me off trying them again. Mind you the idea of putting a load of processed gristle covered in meaty gravey in my mouth really doesn't appeal.

Davel, Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

British faggot week, im amazed i missed it

james (james), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

there's a thread about it somewhere, with photos.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Well James maybe next year you and I could get together and eat a load of faggots together

davel, Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Not again Davel!!!! I think I might leave this thread now.............

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

*covers mouth*

*shoves words down mouth*

La la la la la la laaaaaaaaaaa.

*ahem* But you were talking about "bad food"? How about anything Chef Boyardee? It convinced me that yes, Virginia, you *can* make a bad pasta dish. At least with the Franco-American products, it tastes a little palatable.

Dee the Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

The chicken kiev is surely past its sell-by-date, in every sense. Also WALLS BALLS - bizarrely this seems to be a NEW product but it should be consigned to history RIGHT NOW.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Tinned Chicken in "white sauce" owns this thread.

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

or possibly those tine Goblin generic "meat puddings".

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Basically any tinned meat product which can be bought in Kwiksave.

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i totally agree with WALLS BALLS - bad bad bad. Retrospective food creation or what. What next some Vodka and suet alco-pop

james (james), Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

How about any reconstituted fish products designed to appeal to kids, such as fish heads, fishy bites, fish footballs, etc....

Davel, Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Not Fish fingers however!!!

davel, Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Heinz Cheezy Beans

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

fish heads? what did your mum serve you as a kid? Still i bet you looked forward to offal thursday?

(Bryan i nearly bought some of those the other day)

james (james), Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Aren't you glad you didn't? I go to an Oscar party every year where we have a winners pool. The loser gets a can of Cheezy Beans.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Bryan are you in the US, i think cheesy beans may have only just come out in the UK hence i tend to buy anything with a shiney new sticker on it

james (james), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Canada (Winnipeg)
We have most of the same products that you guys do (Commonwealth thing, I guess).

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I always add cheese to beans. Is it just the pre-mixing that is Bad? Or some hitherto unimagined horror?

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

grate a bit of cheddar into baked beans its great, but I can see how it might be heinous if preprepared with suspect 'cheeze'. I think the z is key here.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

vienna sausages

"go-gurt" is new but why is it still being produced

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

pink butter in a squeeze bottle

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

bags of pretzels

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Basically any tinned meat product which can be bought in Kwiksave.

Let's narrow that down a bit to a little something specific marketed (in the US anyway) as "potted meat."

eyeball stew

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 5 June 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

A nearby supermarket has started carrying chicken feet in the meat section. Now, I'm sure this is an ethnic delicacy that this white girl doesn't understand. But how does one get anything worth eating from such an ingredient?

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 5 June 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 5 June 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

wow! they named a food product after unwanted emails

oops (Oops), Thursday, 5 June 2003 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

If you get the right pretzels, they are divine. Nothing can beat soft baked pretzels for me. Just dip in some American yellow mustard and mmmmm. Snack food heaven.

Spam isn't that bad. I suppose if you really, really like the taste of pork, it would taste good to you. It's not horrible, though.

I totally second the pigs' feet, though. I have *so* many relatives who like to eat pigs' feet, and all I think about is, "Why???" It boggles the mind. Then again, these *are* the same people who like to eat cows' tongue and small intestines. I'm sure I've turned most of you off dinner now.

Dee the Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 5 June 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

heinz baked bean pizza and i also found a ghanain hot pepper sauce maid with fermented fish and sold in a can in east london once... not so bad you may think, but it was called "shitto", which i found rather off-putting

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Thursday, 5 June 2003 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

B-but Heinz Baked Bean Pizzas are great! (well, they're OK).

Destroy :

Fray Bentos (pies! in a tin!)
Campbells Meatballs (I used to like these when I was a kid, but either they have got horrible or my tastes have improved immeasurably)
Any pasta in sauces in tins
"Full Monty" breakfast in tins

Actually, just destroy all tinned foods that aren't just basic ingredients in tins...

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 5 June 2003 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I could buy that can of Dinty Moore Vienna Sausages from the vending machine here for $1.00. But I won't. No one else has. And no one ever will! What the hell.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 5 June 2003 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

the nutrional stats from the Swanson HungryMan All Day Breakfast (I hope this isn't a close-up picture of a penis?)
http://www.x-entertainment.com/articles/0744/yucky.gif

Aaron A., Thursday, 5 June 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

um "nutritional" rather. (but does the term even apply?)

Aaron A., Thursday, 5 June 2003 23:09 (twenty-two years ago)

wow, that product fulfills two hundred and thirty percent of my daily cholesterol requirement!

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 6 June 2003 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

That is the most unhealthy thing ever.

Ed (dali), Friday, 6 June 2003 06:17 (twenty-two years ago)

where can I get some?

Ed (dali), Friday, 6 June 2003 06:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Yum yum.

That braised steak and onions in a tin stuff should be banished forevermore. Whats it called, Tom Piper or something. It looks and smells like cheap dog food. Blergh.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 6 June 2003 06:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i second that trayce. reminds me of popular myth that circulated around the seventh grade ('89) regarding the food served on expedition at camp. boiled over the fire in unmarked tins, kids in the upper grades swore it was Pal. looking and smelling much like the tucker beloved by man's best friend, the contents proved to be Tom Piper's Sausages and Vegetables.

Chris Radford (Chris Radford), Friday, 6 June 2003 07:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Potted meat of any sort.
Vienna sausages (they're NOT meat).
Canned pasta.
Fried pig skin.
Canned asparagus.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Friday, 6 June 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.math.uab.edu/brouwer/pictures/places/brainssmall.jpg

Can you read that cholesterol count?

Paul Eater (eater), Friday, 6 June 2003 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

and the serving size is only 2/3 of the can!

oops (Oops), Friday, 6 June 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy shit... Paul E. won this thread by a landslide.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 6 June 2003 22:49 (twenty-two years ago)

wait, it's only half the can

oops (Oops), Friday, 6 June 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Traditionally of course they are served with scrambled eggs, as pictured on the can, and bacon.

Paul Eater (eater), Friday, 6 June 2003 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

pork BRAINS? MILK gravy?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Saturday, 7 June 2003 02:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Does that say 1150% daily cholesterol !!!???

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 7 June 2003 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but you get 10% of your vitamin C! Just have five cans a day, and you are SET. IN YOUR FACE, scurvy!!

Ernest P. (ernestp), Saturday, 7 June 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

hahahaaaa!!!

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 7 June 2003 04:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I still can't quite get over the radiant and quaint Rose logo.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 7 June 2003 07:49 (twenty-two years ago)

that is phukkin' disgusting! who would eat it!?

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Saturday, 7 June 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Now, I'm sure this is an ethnic delicacy that this white girl doesn't understand. But how does one get anything worth eating from such an ingredient?
Bizarely enough Acadians seem to love pigs feet.
Im trying to work up to Ox tail at one of the shops near me.
Otherwise the worse thing I've ever put in my mouth has to be dulce.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 7 June 2003 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe no one has mentioned "The Gallery of Regrettable Food".

The book is wonderfully horrible - a good incentive for weight loss - just thumb through the pages before a meal.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Sunday, 8 June 2003 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
why are they bothering?

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, bananas are gross.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i must admit I enjoy the occasional banana, but why make sweeter? why change the flavor? i also despise how starbucks is now the formula for success . . . .

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

No, bananas are gross.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i make really good vegan banana bread.

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i think you are just scared of PENISES

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not scared of penises, but i'm scared of $5 dollar lab-modified bananas. am i weird?

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i am right there with you, lauren.

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

If penises taste as bad as bananas, then I am scared of them.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Pork Scratchings

boom! i fucked your hard-drive (don), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

if penises taste as good as bananas, i better try one

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

bananas are yummy. they don't need to be any yummier.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

let's see if we can lab-modify a penis for better flavor.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

canned peas ... what's up civilization???

xexxee, Thursday, 1 July 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd definitely watch Beard Meats Food having a go at that when he gets to the USA again (I can't be the only ilxor to occasionally watch competitive eating videos, right?), except he doesn't like the spicy stuff.

brain (krakow), Friday, 21 August 2020 16:23 (five years ago)

I like to catch the odd competitive eating vid on YouTube, it's funny as fuck. Also love the Chinese guy who finds ever more creative ways to down a few pints in ten seconds.
