So infinitely classic. Most effective use of techno-babble evah. Strikes me as odd that nobody has mentioned the AIs Wintermute & Neuromancer resembling the left & right brain hemispheres, or how much Gibson imagery can be found in Ghost in the Shell and the Chris Cunningham videos. (Would do it myself but I don't have the time right now.)

I just wanna know what percentage of The Matrix he's getting. It's funny, I just recently read Neuromancer (after years of prodding by my younger punker brother), and I couldn't believe how much stuff the Wachowskis lifted wholesale. They even took Zion (but somehow lost the dub...)

But anyway, yeah, I thought it was fascinating. It didn't just anticipate all the techno-stuff, it's also a good primer in complexity theory -- and complexity theory per se didn't even exist when Neuromancer came out. And it did it all with sex and gunfights and Rastafari spacemen. It rocks and rolls.

CC was down to do the neuromancer film but things seem to have dried up.

i was also disappointed when the second and third books of the series went away from space rastafarians and towards the cybernet voodoo thing.

johnny mnemonic is close to unwatchable but seeing the sprawl on film was kinda interesting. film also has a lot of the matrix in it. and damien hirst.

Wasn't Chris Cunningham supposed to direct this?

Tuomas, Tuesday, 2 December 2008 12:42 (seventeen years ago)

i think that was just a suggestion from gibson?

No, I think there was even a website for it, though that was years ago.
