You may buy one outfit and money is no object.

Madchen, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I know I said 18th century dresses are divine, and they are, but I have just discovered this dress.

Madchen, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

a Devo suit!

jel, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

jel, that's genius.

Sean, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Edwardian Dandy Formal Ware. All the way down to the green carnation

anthony, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Joseph's coat of many colours.

Al, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If I buy the outfit, do I get to have the body to wear it? ;-)

Silver jeans, a la Iggy.

kate, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If I buy the outfit, do I get to have the body to wear it?

Ach, that makes it too easy.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That's why I love corsets. But I'll be generous - you may sculpt your body as you wish to fit the outfit of your choice.

Madchen, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Brilliant, Kate, those silver jeans were insanely great. I'm all skinny with no stomach, so I could pull 'em off... if I had anyplace to wear them. I've got black leather jeans, but San Francisco is usually so cold that I don't sport them topless like Iggy.

Sean, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Like Madchen's court dress, i think we should all have something similar, only more of an odd, large moving garment-vehicle as designed by Issey Miake or that designer that did the amazing (!) Table dress. That way, it could also double as shelter and/or storage of food.

jason, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I want a trnechoat of i inch thick goooold

Pennysong Hanle y, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Damn jel.

I wouldn't have been a Devo suit, though- I'm more for the Residents. When they're in their finely tailored moods, of course...

emil.y, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have black leather jeans (and a matching jacket as well) but it's not quite the same. I got home and found a photo that my mum had taken of me in them- with long very blond hair and gobs of eyeliner, it did look very Iggy-esque. But then when I see how *thin* I was at the start of this past February, I understand why I got so sick and anaemic at the end of February! So I'm not fussy about having an iggy- thin body any more.

All those historic dresses are just lovely, but ach, the corsets one had to wear to get them on. I'm not really willing to lose my internal organs for the sake of fashion.

kate, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jason: table dress = Hussein Chalayan.

More tomorrow when not pished.

suzy, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't understand your link Madchen. Are you trying to say that that dress is nice?

I would choose a birthday suit, of course.

Ally C, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

thanks, Suzy! I've littered my fridge with pullouts of his freakish designs. they are truly amazing...

jason, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If i was a woman and this happened i suspect that suzy and i would have an Alexius Carrington catfight over Hussein Chalayan, WLT, McQueen and Viktor & Rolf.

anthony, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Iggy in the jeans! Kate is brilliant.

maria, Friday, 14 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I wish I had a nice red dress. I've had two but lost them so I had them for about one year each.

maryann, Saturday, 15 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Anthony, you can *have* W< and Viktor & Rolf. I get:

Miguel Adrover, Pucci, Raf Simons, Veronique Braquinho, Miyake/ Yamamoto/Kawakubo/Watanabe/Takahashi, Eley Kishimoto, new Balenciaga, Cacharel, Olivier Theyskens, HELMUT LANG, Shelley Fox, etc. Bit of Viv Westwood would be groovy, esp. now she's making dress after dress for Tracey Emin. Chalayan might be a bitchfest but do *you* have the studio number?

If I wore McQueen I'd look like a prettier, thinner, less in need of orthodontic surgery version of Isabella Blow minus the silly quail/coot hat. Not a good look.

And if I'm bored of any of them, I'll design my own and get someone good to run them up. It has been known to happen.

suzy, Saturday, 15 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

put precious in the bucket skin suit.

Geoff, Saturday, 15 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Edwardian Dandy Formal Ware. All the way down to the green carnation."

anthony, Saturday, 15 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)
