No. Place a combined bet on Germany to beat Scotland combined with Sweden to beat San Marino with £500, which will give you a whole extra 12 pence.

No, seriously, if you've got £500 you won't miss, it's good betting. Scotland have been dire recently, Germany have been strong, plus Scotland have been dreadful against decent European teams since Vogts took over.

As for a score prediction: 2-0, available at 9-2 generally. Take it with Ballack to score first for 22-1 if you feel the need.

I've got an eight match accumulator, anyway. I need wins for Germany, Austria, Cyprus, Holland, Sweden, and Turkey for odds of 8-1. Easiest £80 I've ever made.

I have no time for accumulation.

cookie just called me a 'fucking cunt' for even considering it.

it won't be a draw...and it won't be a scottish victory...

Place your money on Betfair, then. You'll get slightly better odds, for one thing.

Germany have been strong

hmmm yes, convincing against Lithuania and Faroe Islands, AT HOME ;)

Germany should count themselves very luck they have such a piss easy group quite frankly. then again, they raise their game against quality opposition much like England do, then perform significantly under par against lesser opposition, much like England do.

still i dont think its possible for Scotland to get any worse, so 3 points for Germany looks a safe bet. i think Scotland could take a point from them in germany tho.

christ, are you Europeans warring with each other AGAIN?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

If you really want to place £500 on a match, Austria to beat Moldova away at 4/6 seems the sensible place to go with it, anyway. Or Portugal at 4/9 to do Paraguay at home.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

scotland are shit. germany are good.

these are the only two things I know about this.

Only bet with money you can afford to lose.
Betting's only fun when you can't afford to lose the stakes.

First two rules of betting there.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 6 June 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't afford to lose.

germany are not good at all! world cup final schmworld cup final...i still think they're at their lowest ebb in living memory - they have technically strong players like Ballack and prolific goal-poachers like Klose but they seem to be lacking that confidence and belief (it had started to waver ever since World Cup '98) that used to make them such a threat before. of course they're now even more unpredictable as a result and could just as easily reach the final of Euro 2004 as they could bail out in the first round like they did last time...but then i always say that about England as well...

stevem (blueski), Friday, 6 June 2003 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think it's a good Germany either - but Scotland are pretty shocking.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 6 June 2003 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a Germany with Khan, Klose, and Ballack. They're playing a Scotland with... errr.... Stephen Dailly?

Place your bet on Funny Cide.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 7 June 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)
