sour cream with triple sec, bananas, and apricot sauce

Melissa W (Melissa W), Sunday, 8 June 2003 06:41 (twenty-two years ago)

If its a crêpe then chesbut puree
If its a British pancake then dark muscivado sugar and lemon
If its a US pancake maple syrup, butter and bacon

Ed (dali), Sunday, 8 June 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

This yummy apple/cinnamon/maple sauce from the crepe place down the street

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Sunday, 8 June 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

If its a breton galette then roquefort and walnuts

Ed (dali), Sunday, 8 June 2003 09:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Pancakes with maple syrup and bacon?
But that's just *wrong*. How can you mix sweet and savoury so recklessly?
Are US pancakes something totally different to British ones then? The thought of anything that isn't fruit, cream, chocolate or sugar on a pancake is just inconceivable to me.

Cathy, Sunday, 8 June 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

US pancakes are sweetened, thicker and have baking powder in them to make them rise.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 8 June 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Sugar beet syrup.

Sommermute (Wintermute), Sunday, 8 June 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Nutella and bananas.

kirsten (kirsten), Sunday, 8 June 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

strawberries and whipped cream

sand.y, Sunday, 8 June 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

How can you mix sweet and savoury so recklessly?

A good combination of the two, say in butter pecan ice cream, is all the better for the sweet/salt perversity. And now that I think about it, butter pecan ice cream would be nice on a good crepe, but I usually go for Nutella.

j.lu (j.lu), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I just finished eating a crêpe from the place on the corner about 10 seconds ago. Toppings: banana & nutella (other fave is sugar & lemon).

s1utsky (slutsky), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

am i the only one who hates nutella on crepes?!

sand.y, Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

it's likely

s1utsky (slutsky), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

bacon and maple syrup go together beautifully - try it!

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Monday, 9 June 2003 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Strawberry jam (homemade).

Or, in a more savory mood, wild mushrooms in a cream sauce.

But that's just *wrong*. How can you mix sweet and savoury so recklessly?

Nothing beats the taste sensation when maple syrup collides...

< / clap >

...with ham.

jm (jtm), Monday, 9 June 2003 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll go with Chris's lemon and (powdered) sugar, but also lots of butter. I learned this from IHOP of course!

Aaron A., Monday, 9 June 2003 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Chocolate sauce with cointreau and bits of candied orange rind.

Paul in Santa Cruz (Paul in Santa Cruz), Monday, 9 June 2003 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

nutella, bleaurgh. It ought to be good being chocolate and hazelnut, but it is far far too sweet.

Ed (dali), Monday, 9 June 2003 05:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Breton galettes with soft caramelised onions... orgasm central. I highly recommend Breizoz creperie to anyone residing in Melbourne. Mmmmmm...

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 June 2003 06:46 (twenty-two years ago)

where is this creperie (never knew there was such a place) Trayce?

Chris Radford (Chris Radford), Monday, 9 June 2003 07:27 (twenty-two years ago)

If it's a pancake then lemon & sugar. If it's a crepe then i would say sugar, maple syrup & grand marnier. They do that in the crepe stall where i live. num!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 9 June 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

You live in a crêpe stall?

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 9 June 2003 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, that's why I weigh 25 stone!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 9 June 2003 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

mmmmm. nutella. but without banana, plus either whipped creme or vanilla ice cream.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

chicken & basil.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Monday, 9 June 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

bags of money, hawt wimmins in bikinis, blunts, bottles of jaeger, and more bags of money

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 9 June 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Galette with gruyere and mushrooms. In fact gruyere with anything [within reason] is unbeatable.

Daniel (dancity), Monday, 9 June 2003 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Another crepe.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 9 June 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

gruyere indeed. My gruyere croque monsiuers are the worlds best.

Ed (dali), Monday, 9 June 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

where is this creperie (never knew there was such a place) Trayce?

Chris: it's in Smith street, if I recall rightly. Its called Breizoz (sp?) and they do amazing proper galettes, that they cook and serve on the spot to you one at a time, with all kinds of savoury and sweet fillings; and fantastic Breton cider. Mmmm yum.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 June 2003 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks Trayce, i'm there already! and the rest of you have made me very hungry.

Chris Radford (Chris Radford), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

blini with cranberry jam
failing that, a crepe with chocolate and lemon

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

My favorite creep topping is comeuppance. Or was it salmon?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

lemon and sugar also

CaptainLorax, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

I will make one up: heavy cream, eagle brand milk, lemon zest, grand marnier, brandy, pinch of sea salt, nutmeg, powdered sugar, mussel foam.

wanko ergo sum, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 23:23 (eighteen years ago)

Gruyère, ham, egg

Michael White, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 23:33 (eighteen years ago)

Nutella and fried bananas!

Abbott, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 23:34 (eighteen years ago)

Something that's not wanky, like Abbott's.

W4LTER, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

Mine is not only wankless and humble but INCREDIBLY, PERFECTLY DELICIOUS.

Abbott, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

Absolutely.

W4LTER, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 23:38 (eighteen years ago)
