JON MUST GO

His time has now come. I don't think he's being very entertaining anymore and the 'Jon is so dull it's great' thing is boring now it's been adopted by Chris Moyles and Graham Norton.

Jon must go.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I think he should stay for one more week. (Especially since the other choices are Sissy and Fed.) But then he must go.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

But Sissy is a loose cannon and sexy and Frederico is sure to be at the centre of some interesting development.

If Ray, Tania, Gos or maybe even Steph (who I like but who is non-essential) were up for eviction then yes, Jon could stay.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Jon needs to go, he is pissing everyone off in the house & he is just being too agressive & basically a complete dickhead. I cant believe none of them have told him to f@#k off yet! I just keep doing it for them, but I dont think he can hear me for some reason!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought you guys wanted me off ILX or something!

troll

1. v.,n. [From the Usenet group alt.folklore.urban] To utter a posting on Usenet designed to attract predictable responses or flames; or, the post itself. Derives from the phrase "trolling for newbies" which in turn comes from mainstream "trolling", a style of fishing in which one trails bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite. The well-constructed troll is a post that induces lots of newbies and flamers to make themselves look even more clueless than they already do, while subtly conveying to the more savvy and experienced that it is in fact a deliberate troll. If you don't fall for the joke, you get to be in on it. See also YHBT. 2. n. An individual who chronically trolls in sense 1; regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by the fact that they have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of life on the net, as in, "Oh, ignore him, he's just a troll." Compare kook. 3. n. [Berkeley] Computer lab monitor. A popular campus job for CS students. Duties include helping newbies and ensuring that lab policies are followed. Probably so-called because it involves lurking in dark cavelike corners.

Some people claim that the troll (sense 1) is properly a narrower category than flame bait, that a troll is categorized by containing some assertion that is wrong but not overtly controversial. See also Troll-O-Meter.

The use of `troll' in either sense is a live metaphor that readily produces elaborations and combining forms. For example, one not infrequently sees the warning "Do not feed the troll" as part of a followup to troll postings.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

What do you mean, 'NOW' it's been adopted by Chris Moyles? I told you all this ages ago! The sooner Jon is gone the better.

Emma, Tuesday, 10 June 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Do not feed the troll.

Something like that? I don't think Jon will go though. He probably got the lions share of the nominations (since they all know he can take it and appears sanguine about it and they can use the same reasons as before) - but the British public won't change their mind that quickly. And he is now the catalyst for arguments too.

It could be quite close this week though.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

They aren't nominating him cos 'he can take it'! They are nominating him because they all realise that if they have to spend 1 more second in the same hemisphere as Jon they will be forced to commit acts of extreme violence against him.

Emma, Tuesday, 10 June 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Emma I started to turn as soon as you told us about the Moyles backing. But last week we had to get rid of Justine and Jon was being an entertaining buffoon. This week seems to be just a case of him alternating being domineering with being anxious about being domineering, neither of which is very entertaining to watch.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I think there is little entertainment left in him. I think Fed may go this time, though - he is a proven disaster, and I'm not sure being quite cute will save him.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Jon is like the archetyple ILX troll but in real life

ss, Tuesday, 10 June 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Please let Sissy go. Every time I look at her my eyes hurt and I'm not entirely sure why. I think it might be because she always looks as if she just got out of a swimming pool and imagine that she smells of chlorine.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

you people are weird

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 22:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Please let Sissy go. Every time I look at her my eyes hurt and I'm not entirely sure why. I think it might be because she always looks as if she just got out of a swimming pool and imagine that she smells of chlorine.

She turns me on even more now. You have awakened my hitherto unacknowledged fetish: people who smell of chlorine.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

IT IS THE MIRROR PHASE!!

JACQUES LACAN (mark s), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 23:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm getting into this chlorine thing too..

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Jon must so go for his appalling dog rockism tonight. And for bitching about Cameron under a smug 'well people can take me as I am I don't play any games' guise (which his supposedly enormous brain got in tangles over).

Fed must of course still go for being an antsy little shite and picking that fight with Tania.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Federico's consistent inability to pronounce the 'th' sound in words (preferring 'f') is making me believe he should become mired in time leave the house.

Also, talking out of the side of your mouth: C or D?

Cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

JON RULEZ

Elmo Oxygen (elmo oxygen), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

There was one word in the diary room that he kept saying weird and I kept wondering if it was a Scottish word I didn't know. Oh yeah - 'care' I thought he was saying but it sounded like 'ken' but couldn't have been that, obv.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

'ken' is a good old scottish word for 'know'. john peel takes his name from and old scottish song 'Do yea ken John Peel', the lyrics of which are usefully available here on some site in zanzibar (why zanzibar?):
http://home.mweb.co.za/sa/salbu/JohnPeel.html

i'm surprised you've not heard this before, living in scotland and all.

andy

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 19 June 2003 22:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I know ken means know you fule. That's why I said it couldn't be that, as it would have made no sense.

Back on topic:

What will become of this Jon/Nush/Cameron love triangle?

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 19 June 2003 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry andy - I now see that I didn't give the context. He was talking about not giving a toss if what the others think of him and whether he gets eliminated.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 19 June 2003 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I really like Nush.

Cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 19 June 2003 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Love quadrilateral!

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 19 June 2003 22:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Hang on - she's got a boyfriend already. Love Pentagon!

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 19 June 2003 22:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a girlfriend! Hexaquandary!

Cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 19 June 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I dislike nush sometimes.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 19 June 2003 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

That simplifies things.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 19 June 2003 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Andy, sorry to be a pedant, but .za is South Africa - it stands for Zuid Afrika or something?

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 19 June 2003 23:34 (twenty-two years ago)

So, who's it to be then. I think Cameron is dull at the moment, but I kinda like him & he keeps having 'thoughts' about the girls. I'm sure he's gonna blurt out his intentions towards one of them soon. So Fed & Jon to go.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i agree: cameron is on a journey!!

the themetune for this BB = "i know what boys like" by the waitresses => it is the FUNNIEST SEXUAL TENSION EVAH!!

mark s (mark s), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

But Cameron loves Steph???

chris (chris), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

IT DOESN'T MATTER!!

(two being ousted tonight = one too many => the first BB ubermove i actually consider a misstep)

(ps i shall nevertheless be defending it rigorously from 2moro as per)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Fed must go because when he got a question right before he sang the song from the "which man let juice loose about this hoose" maynards ad in a high pitched voice.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah I agree, I think it's completely a wrong move unless it's say scott & gos, who are quite nice people, but ultimately are dull & non-eventful. Cameron did fancy Tanya, then there was something on the radio today about sexual tension between him & Nush. I think there is no stopping the boy. Oh I've just remembered Jon's remark about Cameron being lusted after by all the ladies on the outside. What 'outside' is he talking about?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

outside jon's grasp

mark s (mark s), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

what was it that Cam said while drunk after spying Nush's pants?

Obv, Jon will be the one who doesn't go, and *eek* may not get nominated next week. It is U&K that the John Snow's TV be commandeered for all the BB shenanigans tonite.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 20 June 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Something about 'I fancy a gange' or (the distinctly more disturbing) 'I fancy your gange'.

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 20 June 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard that they may put someone else into the house as they are now a week ahead of themselves with eviction. I hope Jon's brother goes in as he is the undoubted star of BBLB whenever he's on.

It was touted before the series started that this may happen as both Jon and Justine have twins.

Didn't Kate Lawler have a twin too? Is this also an aid to qualification as well as having a birthday in June?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 20 June 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Jon's brother!!! Genius.

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 20 June 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Cozen - don't you know Fed's brother? He's just been on BBLB too.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 20 June 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

He is in my class at school. (Pa0lo). Does anyone want his e-mail address? I think I've played football with him.

When I was at a party the other week this girl asked me (after saying 'do you want to come and do two dirty whores?' [!!!]) if I knew his phone number. Just out of the blue (well after propositioning me).

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 20 June 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

dastoor (to me)
> you fule.

sigh, i used to like you, what with the comedy trousers and quoting the tinklers. not any more.

and mark is right. spent more time than necessary last night wondering whether za was actually zanzibar or possibly zaire. but yes, south africa (.sa being saudi arabia)

andy

koogs (koogs), Friday, 20 June 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Not if they evict everyone else next week and bring on seven new people next Friday!

Lara (Lara), Friday, 20 June 2003 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Cameron's going to start being outrageous now, you wait and see if he isn't.

C J (C J), Friday, 20 June 2003 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Why does Cameron keep adjusting the cuffs of the shirt he's not wearing?

Lara (Lara), Friday, 20 June 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

He's nervous and shy. I think it's rather sweet.

C J (C J), Friday, 20 June 2003 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I think he's a horrible accident waiting to happen (on the front of one of the girls trousers).

Lara (Lara), Friday, 20 June 2003 20:51 (twenty-two years ago)

"I fancy your gange."

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 20 June 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I really thought N. was full of shit when he said quite firmly "Jon will not win", so I apologise for doubting him.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Friday, 20 June 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh god, Andrew, don't apologise. Who cares who'll win? We all lose.

Lara (Lara), Friday, 20 June 2003 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Jon came across really well in his interview. Can't wait till he shows up here.

Welcome, Jon.

(N. you were spot on about that 365 Days dating mp3).

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 20 June 2003 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, to be fair Jon acquitted himself very well in the interview. He's that maddening mix of sweet and self-deluded arrogance about the wrong things.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 20 June 2003 23:45 (twenty-two years ago)

cameron is a horrible accent that has already happened.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 20 June 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!!!

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 21 June 2003 06:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this says it all:

http://www.bigbrotherboyz.com/

I mean, is there any point to watching any more? To see Scott finally reveal himself to be Simon O'Brien attempting to relaunch his career? To see Gos say "wikkid" and talk about how great, oh I dunno, Ma$e is? To see Ray slowly turn even deeper into something from Walking With Cavemen? To listen to Nush, and then wonder if you replaced everything she said with "I like hugs and kittens" if there'd be a difference? And Cameron's a complete cunt of a human being, anyway.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

When will Scott finally do something?

Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

cameron is great, i love him

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Cameron grates, i loathe him

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, for a man so convinced about the infallible truth of the Bible, I'd love to know which Bible passage states "Thou shalt threaten to smash someone's face in just for not agreeing with your sense of humour".

Channel 4 editting has killed the show, it's that simple.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

he is the andrew dice clay of xtian reality tv

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Channel 4 has judiciously edited Scott; if 'he's a charming, intelligent, witty' guy (in the words of Jon) we're not being allowed to see it.

Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

"back to basics" = "punks not dead"!!

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

"Thou shalt threaten to smash someone's face in just for not agreeing with your sense of humour".

?

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

anyway BB's over for me now, I think channel 5 should show their telepathy experiment everyday until they prove that telepathy exists.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG- Channel 4 didn't show the aftermath of Jon telling Ray he was being a prick. The E4 coverage showed Ray repeatedly threatening Jon, saying to Fed he was going to "jump him", Federico putting a load of shit in Jon's shampoo bottle, and Cameron saying how he'd like to "punch Jon's face in". Channel 4 didn't show this because... eh, god knows.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

BB's just begun!

Day 30: Jon shows up on ilx.
Day 32: Jon's brother enters the house.
Day 33: HURRAH!

Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

what did thed put in jon's bottle?

any chance for cameron to say something/not say something to 'fit in'=, for example, the "I wouldn't say I'm religious," among others, will be taken because he is a dick.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

what were the voting percentages? the polls all week were very evenly split with only a couple of percent in it. um, was the voting re-opened after the first person was evicted? (this could make the percentages tricky)

both jon and fed sounded more like normal people in their exit interviews than they had in the previous 4 weeks.

nick, i forgive you

andy

koogs (koogs), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Fed has gone...
-- ailsa (ailsa_watson7...), June 20th, 2003. (later)

NO!!!!!
No watchable people left!

-- ailsa (ailsa_watson7...), June 20th, 2003. (later)

For those of you who don't have the times of messages displayed, I would just like to point out the time delay between these messages included Jon being evicted (i.e. it's not Fed's eviction that meant the end of watchable people).

I should think about the implications of time-specific posting more - that made me seem v foolish in hindsight :(

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

No, Fed was still pretty appaling (snivelling backwards on his 'respect' jibe, whooping all the time, being a loud twat generally). Jon was nice.

Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

was the voting re-opened after the first person was evicted?

It was.

Fed's total blase-ness (cockiness? arrogance?) about the whole thing was fairly refreshing, I thought, but it still made him look a bit of a cockfarmer.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I know it's a cliche but I think that his blaseness is a definite defence-mechanism (his 'I never learned anything about myself' answer can only be a total lie surely).

You're not perfect, Fed, not anymore.

Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, yes. But it makes a change from "oh, everyone was wonderful, I had such a great time, I've learnt so much about myself, I'm going to be sharing a flat with person G [i'm not using the phrase "person x", it'll all end in tears], I really want to be back in the house" etc etc etc that they usually spew upon eviction.

I think I now kind of like Fed, in an arrogant cockfarming kind of way. His brand of fakeness is much more interesting than, say, Trania's.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I might start a DAVINA MUST GO thread. She's just fucking annoying now.

j0e (j0e), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

j0e she has been annoying since like 1996!!

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

1896 in fact!!

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah but not fucking annoying. she used to be very good at drawing people out of themselves but now it's like watching Davina doing Kate Lawler's impression of Davina.

and I must admit to liking Streetmate

j0e (j0e), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

and SHE never used TO put THE impetus ON all THE wrong words or shout the ENDS OF HER SENTENCEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS

j0e (j0e), Saturday, 21 June 2003 10:58 (twenty-two years ago)

she moves even with the wrong words.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 21 June 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

and she's always pregnant

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 21 June 2003 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

she moves me to words

Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 21 June 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I only just noticed that ILXOR is on the first page Google returns for "jon must go".

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 22 June 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

This is without doubt the website the world has been waiting for.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 20:52 (twenty-two years ago)

a mate of mine won a date with Jon and Fed on BBLB last night! it's being filmed today and will be broadcast tomorrow. I assume it's going to be one of those Jim'll Fix It-type "can I meet my favourite pop star" dates, such as going to the zoo and having a mcdonalds.

j0e (j0e), Thursday, 26 June 2003 08:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to get text updates from her via another friend every time she goes to the toilet.

j0e (j0e), Thursday, 26 June 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

("just had a crap - it was textbook")

Alfie (Alfie), Thursday, 26 June 2003 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

She was funny, I watched BBLB last night, and they were very impressed by her 30 sec (or was it 10?) banter.

Vicky (Vicky), Thursday, 26 June 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

It was 10, she was saying that they owed her a date after she spent so much money trying to vote Cameron out or something like that.

chris (chris), Thursday, 26 June 2003 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Apparently both Jon and Fed were really lovely but the whole thing was very staged and they kept making her say stuff to the camera that made her look like a tosser

j0e (j0e), Friday, 27 June 2003 08:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Aww shame! Didn't she ever get the urge to just pummel Jon?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 27 June 2003 08:46 (twenty-two years ago)

no but they did go shopping to buy him a new bathrobe

j0e (j0e), Friday, 27 June 2003 09:14 (twenty-two years ago)

She said tonight she would be phoning Jon again!
