.....that they can clamp your car 15 minutes after giving you a parking ticket and that in Hackney they will. I went to help Mark with his computer this morning and I foolishly parked in a residents bay rather than the adjacent pay and display bay So I was ticketed and clamped all within the space of 15 minutes. I was on hold with the release people for about 30 mins before I got a message saying the office was then closed. So I walked to the office payed my £150 quid (£50 parking ticket the rest in release fee (most expensive parking tickets in London, people)).

I was in a foul mood.

However, this afternoon I spent some time test-riding folding bicyles and I feel so much better. Can anyone spare £1200 for a really good folding bike?

They mean it with those CPZ's.

Mind you, students with cars, classic or dud?

I'm now an unemployed person with a car.

the moral of this story is: Go with one's first instinct and take the bus (particularly when its door to door).

If you'd paid and displayed like a good citizen you'd only need a grand for one of those bikes ;0)

Ed *had* paid and displayed, but then parked in a resident's bay next to a pay bay completely by accident, hence clamping saga.
