The romance thread made me think about how I want some romance, dammit. Squashed candies and kisses from beautiful but inappropriate men are beginning to make me cross. I want to talk about love, I dont care how unfashionable it is.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and propose that I'm such a wussy romantic (full of love of that stupid old shit) that I'm scared / disinterested in even trying to date women casually. I'm not gonna throw myself out there, just to play the field and screw around and feel dissatisfied. Fucking meat market.

giving people sweets and candies is so much fun, I think an everlasting gobstopper would be perfectly wonderfully romantic, it would be like a sugary sweet poem about everlasting love and having no need to talk. As for me, I'm gonna find someone whose eyelashes I can kiss. And I'm gonna write him songs and sing them to him.

I didn't even think about the everlasting love aspect, I just like gobstoppers.

Now that I think about it, they're not really all that everlasting. Those outer, colorful layers sure are fun... things keep changing and you don't know what'll come next, but it takes a lot of patience to resist chewing up the center. After that, you have to find another one.

Gobstoppers are an ok metaphor for dating and whatnot, just not very romantic. They're still delicious.

Well, for most there is a difference between dating exclusively vs. just dating. Personally, I am too much of a serial monogamist to pull anything like that off. I don't do well with jealousy at all.

But it might be good for meeting a lot of new people, and finding out that they have Weird and Unappealing Habits, and then you quickly stop dating them. Thats what I know from watching American tv shows.

I suppose I just randomly bump into them. Boyfriends I mean. Which is not to say that I am not choosy because there have only been three, but then again at the moment I dont feel that bumping into any of them was particularly lucky.

For the most part, the only girls I really get to know that I'm not dating are my friends' girlfriends. All the rest get huffy and don't want to talk to me. What's with that?

If you ever feel jealous of not being in love with somebody, there's always a handy exercise to take. Sure, it smacks a little of smugness, but it certainly makes the pain go away:

Just walk out into public and count the number of couples you see walking the street that are firmly grasping to each other's arms and hands but somehow don't really look at each other, and don't seem "happy".

Now, as a complete observational aside: how many of those couples were same sex?

In fact, most of the happiest couples I ever see are the gay couples, men and women pairs both!

The goods are, indeed, always tastier on the other side of the plate. sigh.
