"Sweeeeeeeeeet": C or D

I hate when people, usually male, respond with "Sweeeeeeet" when you tell them about some good thing that you have, or that has happened, etc. I'm not sure why it bothers me so much, but it makes me feel like ending the conversation immediately.

I used this ironically too much and now I fear it has staked out a place in my ready-use vocabulary.

"I used this ironically too much and now I fear it has staked out a place in my ready-use vocabulary. "

fuckin' a. this happens to me all the time; somewhere along the way the irony gets lost. we have banned all ironic usage of "po-mo" in our house for just this reason.

I totally stopped saying "sweeet" about 2 years ago, though one slips out now & then.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 01:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I say it once in a while. That and "rad". I don't really drag it out, though. I probably say "hot" a lot more than both of them, that one's really stuck with me.

I want to start saying "fully" again.

Arthur (Arthur), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 02:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I find "sweet as" in faux cockney to be much worse.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 09:32 (twenty-two years ago)

not to mention "sorted". My Manchester born record label boss used to say that to me all the time. He was flash as a rat with a gold tooth.

OK, learned a new one yesterday: "Gaylord!!". Meaning "Fantastic!" No, I don't get it either.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

At the moment I have a problem with saying 'tidy' in a superstrong faux Welsh accent. ie. I can't stop.

Alex K (Alex K), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)
