esp. in a context where it was like super-obvious to everyone except the teacher?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 18:19 (twenty-three years ago)

who didn't? the question is how advertantly did this occur? many times I did just what the thread-title says by accident. I'll try and think of a concrete example...

I believe tis called "being a kiss-up";> I couldn't bring myself to lie and say "I hated Shakespeare", though. She [sophomore Honours English teacher] DID give me an A+ that term when I played Ophelia. (My class decided to stage Hamlet.)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

that story wd have been more dramatic if the class had staged macbeth but you played ophelia anyway

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 18:26 (twenty-three years ago)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 18:27 (twenty-three years ago)

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 19:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't think I did that really, however I guess I got some credit from making an English teacher like something I liked (Propaganda's "A Dream Within a Dream" haha)

OleM (OleM), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 20:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I misunderstood the question, actually, so nevermind

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 20:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I got favourable treatment from a teacher for a few days in grade 8 because he liked my shoes (Reebok Phase I tennis shoes - the best shoes I've ever owned). I don't remember ever sucking up to a teacher, though I think I received preferential treatment from a prof for pronouncing Worcester properly.

I won an award ($100? I think?) from the msuic department senior year because both my chorus teacher and I liked Kids in the Hall and SPY magazine.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 21:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Jesus mark just because Momus made Head Boy and you didn't

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 21:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Momus was Head Boy?

Barnaby (Barnaby), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 22:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Me Me Me!!!

Yep - total suck-up and very good at it.

And I still have the skill - just got an "A" for that class I completed in a week. Woo-hoo!

I only had the opportunity to "like something the teacher liked" one time in my life, when my in my freshman year of HS I took speech and found out my speech teacher and I both liked to listen to Talk Talk. I don't think it affected my final grade, though, because the all-important final which was going to play a huge role in what our final grade was was the easiest test I've ever taken in my entire life.

I wasn't an intentional "class suckup", though. I'd always been able to relate more to adults than to children my own age, and the adults I was most exposed to as a child were those at school. I absolutely hated some of my teachers, though, and my grade was never affected by that either. I was one of those "bite down hard on your tongue" people.

Innocent Dreamer (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 02:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I had a teacher who was always telling me how much he hated his cock, and I told him I loved it. He gave me some good marks.

jewelly (jewelly), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 02:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Jewelly: "Mmmffft (slurp) oh GOD I love your cock! Gimme your hot white cum!"

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 03:22 (twenty-three years ago)

jewelly you made me laugh (out loud even) and I want you to know I didn't immediately launch into a dumb pornographic fantasy starring you.

estela (estela), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 03:37 (twenty-three years ago)

You're a class act, estela.

Well thank-you, jewelly.
