I'm going into the uncategorized questions pile. I may be gone for some time.

Tom, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's hell in there!!

Tom, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the horror, the hoorooooooo

Geoff, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mistah Ewing, he dead.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And me, I was trained to be a saucier.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm going back in, dammit.

Tom, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Masochism: Classic or Dud?

Dan Perry, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Has anyone seen the ILM Uncategorized Questions pile? That ain't a walk in the park, either. What've you "moderators" been doing all this time? Sheesh.

David Raposa, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That's only two weeks worth of questions as well. I envy The DG and Our Great Publisher not one bit.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Go to hell, Raposa.

Josh, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oi! Pinefox! "Brian O'Nullain" - bottom thread of the uncategorised. It has a certain beauty to it which I don't want to sully by asking on it but - WHAT THE FUCK? Where is it meant to go? "Literature", knowing you.

Tom, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well Tom, I have to say I'm shocked, what with The Third Policeman being one of your favourite novels and all.

A pint of plain is your only man!

Richard Tunnicliffe, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was wondering what to do with that thread. I started it one day while in the middle of writing something titchy on him, having spent months vaguely thinking that he should have his own thread. Then only one reply turned up (last I saw). And it seemed destined to stay as a sort of conceptual joke about failure, though not necessarily alcoholism.

Until now, and Ewing's venture into the pile. Everything has changed.

the pinefox, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've never read anything else by him. I did suspect.

Tom, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I knew. And my reply was v.funny clever and apposite.

mark s, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm introducing a few new categories, mostly to try and reduce the enormous mountain of questions in the 'You' section, which I think is best left for personal confessions and revelations, heh heh. Any thorts DG?

Tom, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Or how about I just reclassify every thread as animal, vegetable or mineral.

Tom, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I fear most will be vegetable, with a sprinkling of animal. The mineral is all over on ILM.

Tim, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

By all means do so, JR Ewing, but possibly, just possibly they shouldn't be pirate-based.

DG, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Current categories under consideration: 'Cutlasses', 'Pieces of Eight', 'Ye Swabs'

Tom, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There's only one solution to this. I propose at some point in the near future we have an ILE pirate day, where all posts have to be in pirate-speak, or they'll be deleted.

DG, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Arrrrrr, matey, Ah'll have yar walk the plank before we avast yar land-lubbing ways!!!

pieces o' kate, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Rum, sodomy and the lash -- another quiet day on ILE.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

this one for the lady g in neasden town, keep it locked, yeh we got tha ku. hold tight for the bassline!

oops, wrong pirates.

gareth, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"What is a giant factory house?"

Too much of this could drive a man mad mad I tell you.

Tom, Friday, 21 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

mad enough to grow a beard?

Geoff, Friday, 21 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Two weeks ago i shaved, i have a full beard. I am the hariest man alive. I grow hair like a fucking sasqauthch.

anthony, Friday, 21 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think that on that designated day everyone on ILE should speak in Tom's preferred piratical style and everyone on ILM should adopt Gareth's approach. Perhaps music posts on ILE or non-music posts on ILM should be performed in a bewildering combination of both, oo arr keep yerr mainbrace spliced all HMP massif on a dead man's chest me rudebwoys, yohoho.

Rebecca, Friday, 21 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have just spat (strictly medicinal) whisky all over my trousers. Thanks Rebecca. ;-)

Richard Tunnicliffe, Friday, 21 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

two weeks pass...
I've just put all (or most) of the 9/11 threads in a "9/11 And After" category for historians of the future to ignore entirely.
