Find the source of the Chandler Bing reference, watch, and perhaps you will weep for America.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

You don't even cry when you hurt yourself? Or have a really bad cramp?

I have made it completely through certain convalescent recovery periods where I don't even shed a tear. I may grimace and wince and complain endlessly about the pain, but nary a tear falls down my cheeks. So physical suffering isn't exactly a cue to start crying. Maybe to start bitching and/or being a Big Baby, yes, but not crying.

Innocent Dreamer (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i am too sentimental for own good and, as such, cry too easily really. it almost happened this morning when i was on the train to work listening to kick the tragedy.

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 3 July 2003 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

There is a guy I used to be a band with who really *can't* cry. There is something wrong with his tear ducts. It had something to do with prolonged contact lens use, or using them badly, I dunno. He can't wear contacts anymore and has to use eyedrops a lot.

Orbit (Orbit), Friday, 4 July 2003 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't cry from being 13 to being 22. Since 22 I've cried maybe 6 times.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 4 July 2003 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I cried late last night after making myself out to be this total idiot and "know nothing" in front of someone I feel especially intimidated by. This was the first time in two years I've cried this much. I think I must've cried for a full minute, which is a HUGE rarity. The last time I did that was the very first time I saw Dad being rushed to the emergency room.

Thank goodness a very kindly person was able to talk me into a good feeling so by the time I went to sleep I wasn't feeling nearly as bad. Thank you sweetie.

Innocent Dreamer (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 4 July 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, I'm a liar. When I was 20 and went to have my dog (had him since I was 5) put down, i cried like a bay for hours.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 4 July 2003 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

And the earth suffered perpetual drought

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Friday, 4 July 2003 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't cry from my teens through my early thirties, despite some shitty relationships and the death of several of my dearest friends. The closest I came to crying was when i was really angry or frustrated. Something changed around 35. Movies and songs actually make me cry now! It takes me awhile to cry after someone I love dies, though. Except when my brother died about 5 years ago. His adult life was so tragic and fucked up and our childhood had been so idyllic, it just set me off.

Arthur (Arthur), Saturday, 5 July 2003 00:49 (twenty-two years ago)

is 'fake the effect' a tautology of sorts?
