I still can't get over the Archie thing; seriously, every page of every comic was like this! I can't believe my mom ever let me read that stuff (or that I ever wanted to)!

H (Heruy), Thursday, 3 July 2003 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope there was a whole series of those. "Josie and the Pussycats versus the X Men", "Betty & Veronica meet Spiderman" etc.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 3 July 2003 04:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Because of this thread I spent half an hour or so looking for Archie porn, only to fail miserably and forget why I was looking for it in the first place. Well, that's that mystery solved.

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 3 July 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

search: all mad magazine tv/movie satires

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 3 July 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Mad magazine satires and Archie are probably the reason I started writing this way! It's too late to stop now! Don't cry for me, I'm already dead! Etc.!

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 3 July 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it's better than the other bad habit around here where you write a sentence or two but the final one is always lacking in any final punctuation at all, making it seem as if you are speaking to somebody from a passing train; (it also makes it seem as if you are speaking very, very fast) (which I suspect is why if I ever meet esoj, dave q or mark s I will be quite surprised that they don't talk like that guy from the Micro Machines advertisements) it's highly disorienting at times and I wish I wasn't so guilty of it myself

Millar (Millar), Thursday, 3 July 2003 12:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Full stops are just boring.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 3 July 2003 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

It used to be that you would never see a full stop ending a sentence in a comic book. It was by no means limited to or even especially prevalent in Archie titles. Look in old DC and Marvel, they're just the same. It always smacked rather of desperation, I thought.

I notice I use them on AIM a lot. "hi Jel." can seem very flat, while "hi Jel!" at least implies the enthusiasm I inevitably feel at encountering jel, for instance.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 3 July 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

five months pass...
Wow, I forgot about that Archie meets the Punisher thing, where can I get a copy of that?
