red wine, baileys, carpet - FITE

Inspired by the efficent way in which the wax in the carpet thread was handled i thought i would ask a similar, but different question.

In our carpet currently hidden by two rugs are one large red wine stain (pinkish, slightly faded) and one small (well 6" by 6") baileys stain.

We will soon be leaving our rented accomodation and im not losing our deposit for this shabby carpet.

Any ideas on removing these stains??

Get a professional carpet cleaner in, it'll only be about twenty quid and they'll do a much better job than you ever could.

If you had just spilt it I'd recomend white wine on the red wine to fix it but once its set I have no clue other then call in a steam cleaner on it.

Pour lots of salt all over the red wine and leave until it has absorbed as much as it's going to, then sweep/vacuum it up. This handy hint probably saved our Bowlie chalet deposit.

N.B. I imagine this won't work for old stains, but it's worth bearing in mind if you're going to do it again.
