Not wanting to go to bed.

Yeah so I have to be up for work in 6 hours. I really don't want to go to bed though, don't you find the later you stay up the harder it becomes?

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 7 July 2003 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

it's the first-day-of-school/xmas syndrome

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 7 July 2003 00:06 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah I think now I know the fuckers are laying me off I feel obliged to come in feeling and looking like shit.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 7 July 2003 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

any time you "know you need to get a good nights sleep" you are guaranteed not to get it

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 7 July 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, i've been doing this quite a bit recently. even when i come home after a late night, with work early-ish the next morning, i end up staying up a bit later posting drunkenly on ilx/clicking through music channels looking at videos/eating. i'm rather tired right now, but here i am posting.

(hello ronan)

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Monday, 7 July 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

(hello kilian)

Yeah I just hate the idea of bed.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 7 July 2003 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

It rules in the morning, though.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 7 July 2003 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

surely this is better than not wanting to get out of bed?

isadora (isadora), Monday, 7 July 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I've always had trouble getting to sleep Sunday nights - think it's the dread of having to get-up in the morning or some other such crap. But I sleep really well on Monday nights. I don't understand me.

Anyway, yeah, what you said Ronan - it's hard to force oneself to sleep. *sigh*

any time you "know you need to get a good nights sleep" you are guaranteed not to get it

So fucking, depressingly true.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Monday, 7 July 2003 03:39 (twenty-two years ago)

So maybe the trick is to try and con yourself into believing that sleep isn't important?

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 7 July 2003 03:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm doing this right now.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 7 July 2003 03:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it working?

I need to do it too - I've an early morning dentist appointment.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 7 July 2003 04:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I just meant that I'm awake right now for no good reason. Despite the fact that sleep is important. Urgent and key, even.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 7 July 2003 04:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Story of my life, it is. It's because you have no responsibilities late at night. You can sit around doing jack shit and not feel bad for doing so since NOBODY does anything late at night just before they go to sleep. Combine this with the fact that once you do go to sleep the next thing you know it's morning, ie going to sleep is the first step in going to work.

oops (Oops), Monday, 7 July 2003 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmm...I think I like your logic, oops. I'll just stay awake from now on.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 7 July 2003 04:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i feel this way every night, possibly because nights are my only 'time out' and i try to enjoy the hours, but in the end i stagger off early anyway, so tired yet so annoyed that i need to sleep through my time off!!

donna (donna), Monday, 7 July 2003 04:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I've an early morning dentist appointment.

:-(

Erik, Monday, 7 July 2003 04:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks, Erik - I am facing it with great fortitude and positive thoughts and other similar crap - just having two fillings replaced, so not bad (especially since I've not been to the dentist n more than five years) but I still find it to be yucky.

On the other hand, they've just moved into new offices and offer "tension relaxants" such as pedicures and manicures and parafin treatments for the hands and herbal eye packs and you can bring in your own CDs and/or DVDs to listen to/watch. Oh - and there's lots of massaging options, too. (But not *those* kinds of options, sadly.)

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 7 July 2003 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I just don't sleep.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:43 (twenty-two years ago)

But you want to go to bed though, right?

oops (Oops), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, but that's something else entirely.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:46 (twenty-two years ago)

to sleep. you want to go to sleep thought, right?

oops (Oops), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh sure, I'd like to sleep here and there.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Wherever Sleep Thought is, it sounds bitchin

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it's the name of my first album.
Luna, you can I'd prefer it if you'd sleep here rather than there.

oops (Oops), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Mod, please delete my brain

oops (Oops), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

*deleted*

luna (luna.c), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

oops (Oops), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Feel better?

luna (luna.c), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Feel? better? zorgbort.

oops (Oops), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:58 (twenty-two years ago)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Monday, 7 July 2003 06:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I like it

luna (luna.c), Monday, 7 July 2003 06:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I do this all of the time. I lie on the sofa & James tells me to go to bed because I am falling asleep, but I fight it & say I'm not going, even though I have been asleep for ages on the uncomfy sofa! Damnit! I guess I just don't like to miss anything.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 7 July 2003 08:08 (twenty-two years ago)

If I have nothing to do, I like sleeping more than just about any other form of lazing activity, so I go to bed. What annoys me is when you're working on something interesting of your own - writing a song or a story or something - and you know that you have to go to bed cause you have to get up the next day. That's when I hate dayjobs most of all!

kate (kate), Monday, 7 July 2003 08:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan, try a different balance of drugs. Less speed more weed is the starting point.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 7 July 2003 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Not being able to go to sleep when you have been spaced out by some painkillers - def dud!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 7 July 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I am Captain Sleep. In bed at 9.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 7 July 2003 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I like to sleep when it's done on my terms - such as no time limits and not having to be coherent while the sun is shining and so forth. When I *need* to sleep a lot of the fun is removed.
