Since I've discovered the Search feature, I spend my time reading old posts

This is an awesome archive of knowledge and opinion. I just researched my next classical music purchase on the ILM section.

go team

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 7 July 2003 04:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to just hit the site and search on odd-ball topics. It's amazing how many hits there are on the search engine. This is an eclectic and brilliant and charming and witty and cute group of people.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:00 (twenty-two years ago)

must try it out. good for boredom busting obviously.

donna (donna), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

What's your next purchase?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:22 (twenty-two years ago)

ILX is so far ahead of the wikiwikiwawapedia as a repository of knowledge it's not true. Can we rename the search function 'Enquire Within'?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 7 July 2003 07:45 (twenty-two years ago)

(Remember : Certain posters are more reliable than others. ILx reserves the right to contain misleading, irrelevant and downright fictitious information for the use of its readers and will not be liable for any accident, injury or foolish fashion error made because you believed one of the mentalists on this site.)

Pete (Pete), Monday, 7 July 2003 09:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I specialise in disinformation. Everything I post is wrong!

kate (kate), Monday, 7 July 2003 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh no! The last two posts are an unsolvable conundrum! OH NO!

Tim (Tim), Monday, 7 July 2003 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Or do they??

Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 7 July 2003 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

GTETAMGAC = unsolvable conundrum.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 7 July 2003 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

This statement is a lie!

Ha ha ha ha ha haaaa!!!

I love paradoxes.

(Note how I refrained from making dirty comments about specialising in Disinformation! ha hah!)

kate (kate), Monday, 7 July 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I just like hitting "Random" every once in a while and seeing what strange old thread comes up.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 7 July 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I once found a thread where someone posted three movies that people love once introduced to and I already loved two of the movies but hadn't seen the third. However, I didn't write down the third so now I can't remember the name of the great movie I wanted to see. So sad.

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Monday, 7 July 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it was Caddyshack.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 7 July 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

So this is why the server has been running like arse recently. Refrain from superfluous searches, people.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 7 July 2003 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

This hardly seems "superfluous". Is there any way to make searches less demanding on the server?

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 7 July 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Find the answer within.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 7 July 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

it is a problem the moderators intend to look at at some point, chris

mark s (mark s), Monday, 7 July 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay!

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 7 July 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

HOLY SHIT, THIS THREAD INSPIRES ME TO CLICK ON THE "RANDOM" THREAD FEATURE AND LO AND BEHOLD WHICH THREAD COMES UP BUT...

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 7 July 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh fuckitty fuck. That was supposed to be a link to this thread right here. Damnit.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 7 July 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Is frivolous clicking on the Random button also deprecated?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 7 July 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

(Haha Nick I got Discos: Discuss)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 7 July 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
so if i search for geotagging as a keyword i get no results. yet the flickr thread has the word geotagging in it

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 26 May 2005 14:00 (twenty years ago)

I love the Search function.

I was just about to check Users at the bottom but it has died.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Thursday, 26 May 2005 14:12 (twenty years ago)

-- N. (nickdastoo...), July 7th, 2003.

i read this as 'enrique within', which is ironic because i don' think i was even posting back then.

N_RQ, Thursday, 26 May 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

yeah, i tried to search myself to find a thread that had moved off the new answers page and got zip

sunny successor (katharine), Thursday, 26 May 2005 14:22 (twenty years ago)

Isn't that because they haven't been *awarded* a section yet? You have to go to uncategorized and then you can check it.

nathalie's baby (stevie nixed), Thursday, 26 May 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

If Search isn't working for me, and I remember generally how long ago the thread was posted, I'll sometimes click on the month (like April or May 2004) and do a CTRL+F for a word in the thread-title, or poster's name, or whatever.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 26 May 2005 19:06 (twenty years ago)

In my shame I misread the title as "I spend time reading my old posts." Cuz sometimes I do: it's ILX as intellectual diary and anal-sex-joke log.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 26 May 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

nabisco OTM. I even hived off some of my old posts and put them on my blog in a moment of despair the other month.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Thursday, 26 May 2005 19:41 (twenty years ago)

It took me months before I mapped out the infinite labyrinth sufficiently so that I could escape into the light. Nabisco featured prominently on the two brief "My Favorite" threads, IIRC.

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 26 May 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

so if i search for geotagging as a keyword i get no results. yet the flickr thread has the word geotagging in it

We haven't taken a backup for a few days now. If someone sees Andrew on IM, you may want to tell him the drive is full.

Rufus 3000 (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 26 May 2005 20:39 (twenty years ago)

there's some really embarrassing shit from me early on.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 May 2005 04:58 (twenty years ago)

Isn't Andrew at Angkor Watt or somesuch place?
