As handed out to various people at the NYC FAP. For those I forgot to get copies to (Rosemary, Geeta, Gabbneb, O.Nate, Nick and Sarah...did I miss anyone else?), send me your address. The idea was to create a Fine Collection of American Music without all that patriotic folderol.

Fascinating Ned! Especially the ODB, Johnny and TLC transitions.

That Girl (thatgirl), Monday, 7 July 2003 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

agh! I shouldn't have opened this thread! I liked the surprise (I sure as hell liked "The Wizard" more before I realized that the Zappa kids were the folks jamming with Tesh). I've only listened as far as Poison, but the rest of the track listing reaffirms that this CD-R is the bomb diggity. You'll be getting one as soon as I get a burner, Ned. With all your faves (except Sugar Ray).

Yes yes yes AND YOU TOO. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 July 2003 23:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, I don't ask much. Just everything!

luna (luna.c), Monday, 7 July 2003 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i would like one

anthony easton (anthony), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 00:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Funkytown?!

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 05:14 (twenty-two years ago)

You have a problem with that?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, it's like the 24th most tedious song ever. It has all the funk of a wax statue of Napoleon, despite its adamant claims to the contrary. And so, you know, if that's what you were going for at that point in your mix, that's fine.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

24th?

Dude, you shoulda put some Rush on it!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

24th?

I'm going to leave the listmaking to the ILMers. Suffice to say that "I Know What Boys Like" is number one.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, you shoulda put some Rush on it!

Rush != American

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Neither is John Tesh.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

What's wrong with "I Know What Boys Like"?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel like we've already had this discussion. Anyway if you like it, more power to you, etc. etc. Just don't play it around me or that forehead vein of mine will swell and pop.

Dada, Tuesday, 8 July 2003 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, that's not exactly a description of what's wrong with it, now is it?

Dada, Tuesday, 8 July 2003 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

If I -- Dada, quit it for just a second, please! -- if I had to explain what I disliked about it, I would have to *think* about the song, and I decided long ago that that was a bad idea.

But: It's grating and tedious, is my basic complaint.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Dada, fuck you gently with a long broom handle. I'm trying to read this incredibly insightful and intriguing thread and you're completely messing it up with your nonsense. Either you have a rhyme and reason or you don't. 'kay?

Now, as you guys were saying... ?

Innocent Dreamer (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, clearly the singer of that song doesn't know what this boy, in particular, likes.
