lashing out at people who only sort of deserve it: classic or dud?

I just went off on some poor kid who had the misfortune of saying something really asinine to me at the wrong moment in time.
He only sort of deserved what he got.
Classic or dud? Especially, wanting to make stupid people hurt because you're miserable at the moment. :\

It's less dud if you feel bad about it afterwards.

Probably a better idea to talk to clever people about whats making you miserable than scream at stupid people about what isn't, too.

It's a dud. It won't make anyone feel good.

It's dud.

I've been guilty of it a lot in my past, and feeling like you're right, or smarter than someone, or justified, or whatever, doesn't really give you the right to go off on someone. I have to fight this impulse fairly frequently, and I'm happier when I'm successful.

today i yelled at a woman who had 27 items in the 10 item or less lane

I know from painful experience that it is dud.

I think people who do that deserve to be shouted at. Especially when they're in front of you and all you're buying is a box of Nurofen to ease your pounding head.

Classic, dammit! people get away with too many asinine comments as it is. (does this response qualify?)

ian, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dud, but I do it all the time....

A dud that sometimes feels really good. Unfortunately, I've been told that 'my tone' is very short in some situations.

I think it would feel very, very dud for both people. Maybe even more so for the person doing the lashing out. The recipient could just think: "oh well, I didnt even really deserve it anyway" and then feel better.

Classic if the person cries. Dud if they just chuckle, make the 'crazy' sign circling their finger near their forehead and wander off.

It's a dud. I've been guilty of it in the past, but often I try not to lash out and I hold my own feelings back. However, this also makes you miserable when you end up either getting no thanks for it, or being overlooked. So perhaps people who consider it classic are better off.

I usually even up the scales by doing something equally asinine and stupid myself. The other day on the bus the driver got all irate because a punter pressed the disabled person button - when he obviously thought it was a stop button. After a loud tirade over the bus tannoy he let the old gentleman off while we all muttered. I think he would have remembered if he had already let a wheelchair user on the bus, and therefore should be a wee bit more chilled.

From the question I assumed this was to do with The War, and instead it's just some guff about human relationships. I feel cheated.
