Yes. Mine is blue and Scandinavian and very, very warm. It has earflaps and ties on. You grow up in a drafty 150 year old farmhouse in upstate NY during an oil crisis, and you learn to wear nightcaps.

CLASSIC!!!

That's not how I pictured Archel

Yes, I have just killed the smaller bear and I running off in the night to dispose of the evidence.

This is what my nightcap looks like, except a little bit more pointed and nightcap-like on top. Except, unfortunately, not as swirly. It is just plain blue. I'd like a swhirly one like this, if anyone knows how to knit!

i thought this was a thread about spilling your last dink of the night.

i have a few from the Andes mountains, handmade: classic. i haven't worn it to sleep in years.

That's not a nightcap, that's a woolly hat you wear in bed. A proper nightcap is a big pointy Rip Van Winkle limp-wizard's hat, like this, surely?

dink=drink
& my nightcap isnt a real one.

kephm, Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I would never wear my nightcap out of doors. In fact, I very rarely wear it out of bed. I tried wearing a standard Touque, but it used to slide off my head when I thrashed about. Hence the need for the earflap ties.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

what is the point of a nightcap exactly?

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:18 (twenty-two years ago)

same material as the rest of it, usually.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

To keep your head warm!

Though I don't understand the point of the point. It would seem to get in the way while you slept!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

you pop the bobble in yr mouth instead of yr thumb!!

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Why would anyone want to keep their head warm while they sleep? I could see if you were sleeping outside or something or had no heat.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, you cover the rest of you with a cover don't you? The poor head is all exposed.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah but i like to have it nice and cold otherwise I can't sleep. plus my anxiety makes me have terrible night sweats, so a cap would not be good.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Well they are not for everyone.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

reasons?
I like to resemble a sleeping Incan mummy*child sacrifice while I sleep.

kephm, Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I cannot sleep if I have socks on. But if it's cold, man, that sleeping cap is the first thing to go on!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

plus when i wake up & take off the nightcap, AFRO static hair nest!

kephm, Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I can imagine a nightcap being a major turn off. If i ever rolled over to get some and my wife was looking like Ebenezer Scrooge i would completely become flaccid.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

well , you see, my (almost) wife is such a babe, she could be wearing an oven mitt on her head & i would't bug out.

kephm, Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

haha. True.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i wd do anyone w.an oven mitt their head

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

like kate, i have a regular woolen hat (with earflaps and a pompom) that i use as my sleeping hat. i get so cold in the winter, and it makes a really big difference. and no, i tend not to wear it if i have a boy over...boys tend to work as human electric blankets anyway, so it isn't as cold in bed.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I agree, Colette! Boys make the best hot water bottles, so need for nightcap is negated, hence no "egads! I'm in bed with Scrooge!" fear.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Unless you turned up wearing this sexy outfit:
