The first of a monthly night, we hope, after last month's trial run - the site will relaunch on the same day.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Same place as last time btw - Parker Place, Parker St, nr Holborn tube.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

that should be the flyer!

Chip Morningstar (bob), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

You can almost see the place from my house. I have no excuse not to go. Except, erm, I'm scared of the music that will get played.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

you scared of pop stuff?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

it is the verve with the vocals mixed v.loud

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

AAACCCCCKKKKKK!!!

And giant screaming Evil Kate Radleys!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

kephm, Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

the music last time was very good - Ultravox, Basement Jaxx, Andrew WK, Missy vs The Cure, Junior Senior...fun fun fun

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

and hopefully it will be even better this time *gets cecil taylor boxset ready* ;)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Missy vs The Cure

Lance Lockarm's fame grows!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

er, that one was by Erol Alkan

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

A shameless ripoff.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Erol Alkan - isn't he a Yugoslav war criminal?

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

That's Pete Baran, Mark.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Certainly a comic foil.

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm gonna come to this one, probably.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm so dumb i said 'hey you must be jel' to someone who wasn't jel, and i feel awful that even now i can't remember who it actually was

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, I could only describe the music played last time as sound art!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, thanks guys, on a work night again (and probably on a work night for the rest of eternity, mon-wed). This looks harder to get to than Club Sussed.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 10 July 2003 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

cool! i'll be there!

geeta, Thursday, 10 July 2003 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

This looks harder to get to than Club Sussed

well, it certainly is for me ;)

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:42 (twenty-two years ago)

"i'm so dumb i said 'hey you must be jel' to someone who wasn't jel, and i feel awful that even now i can't remember who it actually was

Don't worry steve, I'm sure they were honoured to be mistaken for ILX royalty :)

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't get me started on Sound Art.

If you play Boney M, then HSA will probably DRAG me there.

(And then play some Scanner and HSA will drag me out and strop home.)

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 07:59 (twenty-two years ago)

quite right too

Ed (dali), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:22 (twenty-two years ago)

What is?

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Walking out during scanner. He's rubbish.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

The question of correct etiquette should Scanner be played at Club Freaky Trigger is somewhat moot I think.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

You want to get HSA ranting about Scanner some time. While watching the Harry Potter movie, HSA experienced cascades of giggles and started calling him Robbo the House Elf. I didn't realise why this was funny until I saw a photo of Robin.

OK, I'll stop talking about this because they'll end up threatening to sue each other again.

If you play Boney M, then HSA and will come.

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm sure we've got some boney m somewhere :)

definately no scanner though, so no need to fear there.

also although it's a school night it finishes by half eleven, so it's not like it's late late. also it's august so it's school holidays innit ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I have Nightflight To Venus kicking around somewhere. "He Was A Steppenwolf"!!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 10 July 2003 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.freakytrigger.co.uk/pictures/FT2.gif

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not going as K-9 is on the flyer

chris (chris), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

would you go if it was a Dalek or Cyberman?

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

none of the above

chris (chris), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i love K9 but he looks incredibly out of place on that flyer, but whaddya gonna do?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

It should have a pic of Abu Hamza in K9's place. Anything with a hook is fair game.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

lalala, bumpbumpbump.

i do hope you haven't all forgotten about this :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 28 July 2003 08:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Between 8 and 9 on the Club Night there will be a SPECIAL SURPRISE SECTION which will involve audience participation (not in a crap way) and be good fun. So you should definitely come along by then. You should come along before that and hear my glam rock set too.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 28 July 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

And there will be a special prize for people who work out the theme of my set.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 28 July 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete's theme will be closure and he will be playing SEB's 'Get Over You', 'Against All Odds' and 'I Will Survive' accordingly

stevem (blueski), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish!

Tom (Groke), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm close by. I'm intrigued. I'll come.

Who's playing 'Agadoo' then?

(I mean, 'Give It To You'. Really)

Barima (Barima), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I was planning on Superman by Black Lace, O Superman by Laurie Anderson, Sunshine SUperman by Donovan and Waiting for Superman by The Flaming Lips but realised
a) My theme would be a bit obvious
b) With the exception of the Donovan track they won't exactly go a bomb on the dancefloor.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Superman by REM goes down surprisingly well on the dancefloor.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Surprisingly well for a song about Superman, or surprisingly well for a song by REM?

Pete (Pete), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

well both as it happens. I'd rate it above Stand and Shiny Happy People in the danceability stakes. "You're Really Super, Supergirl" off XTC's Skylarking album is a better song, however.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Have you ever seen "End of the world as we know it" on a dance floor, Pete? It destroys.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not sure I know that song. What album is it on?

Pete (Pete), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, great!

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 August 2003 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Rah! Also got the invite for Pete's blog of doom, heh heh heh. I have an idea for what to do with that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 4 August 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Uh oh. I can rescind the invite you know.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 4 August 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw man! But it's nice!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 4 August 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh well, if its nice then that's alright.

(Style guide coming soon).

Pete (Pete), Monday, 4 August 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

"if its nice then that's alright" seems a bit short for a style guide, yes.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Still works, tho! Tom, article should be in yer hotmail inbox. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

it's tonite!!

are you excited, i know i am!!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 07:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be more excited when I've finished writing and editing all the relaunch pieces, oh god, me and deadlines, two bad tastes that taste worse together.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 07:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be along tonight but poss not in top form as I am very QUEASY today. I think it's the heat from yesterday! Ugh. Darkened room, etc.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 07:51 (twenty-two years ago)

let us not give in to the quease - not til after ten pints of cider anyway

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 08:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel like poop, but I'm sure I'll make it along for a while. I am not allowed to drink beer though.

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 08:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I am coming, but will have been at a works leaving do first.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm. Will be hopping along... any idea how to get there by bus?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Ithink that kind of depends in where you are coming from Bill. Any bus that goes up Kingsway or High Holborn would suffice I reckon.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm coming but I think my kidneys are about to pack in. My lungs are so full of tar that they crunch when I breathe. I am becoming a creature of the night and other peoples' sofas.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, but I have dyed my hair a kind of nuclear beech leaf colour, so I think my new hair needs another outing.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 09:14 (twenty-two years ago)

and its only just the middle of the week - yay!

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i am going to hit the buffers physically mentally and emotionally very soon. what time start?

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 09:20 (twenty-two years ago)

For your purposes Gareth, start time is 8pm.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 09:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I will burn some sun ra and sun city girls for you to play tonight Tom.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

(we will be starting about 7ish, please, everyone that isn't gareth don't wait til 8 or i'll be a gibbering wreck by the time you do get there)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 09:38 (twenty-two years ago)

6.30 start I thought, well if you wan't to catch Steve's Experimental Horse Music set.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

ts: "wan't" vs referring to it as "exp. horse MUSIC"

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

My week is turning into an unpleasant sleep-deprived blur, I am haemmoraging cash, plus it is a friends 30th tonight (a fact he is not happy about, so revelry is likely to be subdued). I'm not sure if I'm coming.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Acid Horse?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Acid Horse!

Ess Kay (esskay), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Acid Horse will never die!

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 10:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmmmm. Acid horse.

Tim and Chris (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Not *too* acid though.

It's all about the Speed Stable these days.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

is it ok if i bring my caddy?

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

"she said BALLS TO YOU BEH-BEE — i ain't nevah comin back!!" *dee-daw dee-daw*

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio, the Sun City Girls did a great cover of the O'Jays' Love Train several years ago. Bring that!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

any requests anyone?

Awww, I'm really tempted to come now, with all this chatter going on.

If someone can guarantee that I'll hear the "Live Aid" version of "Bad Cover Version", I'll be sure to show, fwiw.

And Marlene Dietrich. Lots of her. In fact, can I just bring some CDs?

*ducks*

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Did someone mention horse?

chris (chris), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

you've got to ride, ride the white horse...

If you play that, I will come ;).

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Racialists. What about the theme from Black Beauty??

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh BOLLOCKS - I thought this was tomorrow. Hum.

j0e (j0e), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

parker: is it is it air conditioned?

zebedee (zebedee), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Does that mean you will not be attending, j0e?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

yes it is air-conditioned (actually i have no idea, but i'm not going to say it isn't am i now ;)) but it's not like it's a greenhouse type building (unlike my office), so it shouldn't be worse than anywhere else...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Dunno Matt - working at home today and *really* don't fancy trekking into town (I am rubbish with summer). Of course, were I in the office then I'd deffo go. Am I just being crap?

j0e (j0e), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

If you think that I'm being crap text JOE CRAP to 856236
If you think that I'm not being crap then don't

j0e (j0e), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Suzy I would play Laid Back but it's on some unmarked CD-R somewhere cos I'm pikey and downloaded it. I have "Sunshine Reggae" by the same mob but I doubt you'd like it.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

come on j0e, there's lovely cool beer in the pub, mmmm, cool beer...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

i have burned the sun ra and am doing some sun city girls as I post ;)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

What does, er, *someone* look like, just so I don't end up standing at the bar staring forlornly at a group of happy smiling TOTAL STRANGERS?

I'll be the one in the, er...in the...fuck knows, it's too hot to think about matters sartorial. Perhaps a t-shirt with monkeys on it?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

We look like the people in the trig brother photos, only blurry and out of focus due to the heat

chris (chris), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

As opposed to blurry and out of focus due to drink. And except I'll be in my suit and tie. Another pic of me on my profile here - and I'll be there pretty early, around 6.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

more importantly we'll probably be the only people there, certainly if you come up to one of the tables at the back, or the djs, innit.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)
