kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I love strawberries.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Am i missing something?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

amateurist (amateurist), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

No. Well, yes, but...

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

...nothing worth going into.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Mm cream.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I have found out that the mysterious berries in HSA's mum's garden are, in fact, Loganberries.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmloganberries...

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

what is a loganberry?

strawberries were my favorite as a kid, but then i discovered raspberries and was lost

H (Heruy), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

They weren't ripe yet. :-(

And by the time we get down there again, the birds will probably have eaten them.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

What do loganberries taste like? I hate blueberries and gooseberries, which makes me unhappy.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

dumb old birds.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Innocent Dreamer (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

They taste kinda like raspberries, kinda like blackberries... slightly bitter but still sweet, and very yummy.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been eating strawberries almost every day for the past 2 months. I think I spend like $15 a week on strawberries. I need to start growing some.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got blackberries and blueberries growing in my yard. Between them and the peppermint and lavender and basil, I'm gonna be making some BOMB DIGGITAH pies in the next couple months.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

can you put lavender in a pie?

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

HSA's mum always gives us berries for afters. Strawberries and cherries feature heavily. I never used to be a fan of cherries, but hers are delicious. Also, some strange fruit that apparently HSA claims people haven't eaten since the middle ages, but makes very nice jam. Instead of cream with strawberries, try yoghurt. It's very nice.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I used lavender last summer in a peach/blackberry pie. My mouth waters remembering it.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh, that's a phrase I never ever thought I'd see in one of my posts ever again!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I am coming to Kentucky.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

You can eat lavender?

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Our email prog at work is Mulberry. What is a mulberry and can we eat it? (Apparently we can go round its bush but that's all I know...)

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

One of my best friends owns a Pick-Your-Own-Strawberries farm and we go there on summer Sundays to just sort-of graze our way around. We take bowls, spoons, sugar and cream with us, too. People stare.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't really understand why people eat strawberries and cream with sugar. I mean, aren't they sweet enough?

kate (kate), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

gygax did she linger on the words "red" and "sweet"?

amateurist (amateurist), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

just a little... ;-D

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

lazy greedy farmers - pick your own strawberries

chris (chris), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm glad this thread wasn't removed

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, anything is improved by added sugar! Including everyone I know!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember a long long time ago my parents used to get boysenberry yogourt, and I thought it was quite good, though I never was quite able to figure out what a boysenberry was.

"According to EWC you can cut your health risk from pesticides in produce by 50 percent simply by reducing your consumption of "the dirty dozen "- the 12 fruits and vegetables they've found to be the most contaminated. In this chart, compiled by EWC, you'll find the dirty dozen listed in order of contamination level, starting with strawberries, the worst.

"The Dirty Dozen"
1. Strawberries.
2. Bell Peppers (tied with 3).
3. Spinach.
4. U.S. Grown Cherries.
5. Peaches.
6. Mexican-Grown Cantaloupe.
7. Celery.
8. Apples.
9. Apricots.
10. Green Beans.
11. Grapes From Chile.
12. Cucumbers.

Dada, Wednesday, 9 July 2003 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

why hasn't that poor ewe been tailed?

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

pleeeze leeesa, i thought you looooved meeee

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 10 July 2003 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought lambs got tailed for hygiene reasons (ie reducing the risk of them from getting flyblown). i don't condone the farming of animals, but tailing is hardly monstrous.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 10 July 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a third-world ewe. It doesn't have the advantages that we have.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 10 July 2003 03:41 (twenty-two years ago)

logan berries make a great syrup, esp. on pancakes, well known in western canada, almost as good as saskatoon.

anthony easton (anthony), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Di, that's like saying you condone circumcision for hygeine reasons. Barbaric person.. .

That Girl (thatgirl), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:00 (twenty-two years ago)

six years pass...

my god, when strawberries are on, they're on. almost enough to make me forgive them for all those other times when they were sour and tart.

Face Book (dyao), Sunday, 23 May 2010 03:17 (fifteen years ago)

one month passes...

nakhchivan, Sunday, 4 July 2010 18:33 (fifteen years ago)
