Potato chips, mashed potato and gravy and potato mashies all in the same meal

Takewaway meal deals and fast food chicken outlets are going ridiculous with the potato - anyone noticed. Three different potato dishes with your chicken - that was the last one I saw. And what is with dipping your potato chips into mashed potato? How much potato do you really need?

not that much! damn fules. . .

That Girl (thatgirl), Thursday, 10 July 2003 03:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Not any, really. The revised food pyramid puts white vegetables and grains (cauliflower notwithstanding) way at the bottom.

Hah I was just thinking about this very topic last night, when I saw a KFC ad for some meal deal wot came with mashies, taters n gravy and chips. I too thought "b-b-b-but thats all potatoes!".

Or, as Martin and Molloy would put it, "slivers of potato extract".

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

mmm potatoes. you just can't go wrong with taters

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh I agree. If I had to live on one foodstuff forever itd be taters.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had this many times, it's delicious.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I love potatoes. We all love potatoes. This is not what I'm asking.

Do you have several different kinds of potato side dish with the one meal? Or is that weird? That's my question.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:35 (twenty-two years ago)

mashped potatoes are for eating upped with a plastik fork or spoon with. and not to share with anywon even if there hungry and jusd eat all upped by your own self upped. the spoon or fork comes in bag to make clean to eat with and not worry about and jusd consontrate on eating upped the potatoes into the mouth with. bag is plastik too. jusd liked fork and spoons are. buckets are fun and a good place for mashped potatoes to be putted in. thats why there there and not in some other fun thing.

jeesus likeds mashped potatoes. thats why he maded kfc. becos kfc would no how to buld potatoes there in the bulding place if jeesus putted him there and let him buld them. then peepol drive car or truck near a window. becos there interesting about whats in the bulding place. then they see kfc there and bulding potatoes like a supertimer. then kfc hears talkings out the window. so he puts to stopped the bulding to see what it is by peekabooing out the window. and sees the wanting peepols comed for the potatoes in cars and trucks.

won man says to him. can i have jusd one bucket pleased and then ill go and enjoy it pleased. kfc says wait 1 minutt pleased. then he comes backed to the window hugging buckets of mashped potatoes fored wanting peepols to take in the buckets to there eating place or by a pretty lake. and sometimes giveds nabkins too. thats what kfc doods and how kfc doods. and peepol enjoy the buckets with masphed potatoes putted in by kfc.

Well, I kinda took that as a given

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you have several different kinds of potato side dish with the one meal? Or is that weird?

I tend to think people dont think of chips as potatoes in the same way they would roasties or mashed. I dont know why.

The thought of dipping chips into mashed potato seems... weird though.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:56 (twenty-two years ago)

But intriguing.

s1utsky (slutsky), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Or is that weird?

It's not weird, but it's not at all advisable.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I love mashed potatoes mixed with rice and gravy.

legion of fools, Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this is a great idea, I cannot get enough potato into my diet, but then I do love the pots, must be the irish in me!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim, that post was insane yet utterly compelling.

Trayce, we have now had two KFC ads in Australia where someone is seen doing just that: dipping their chip into mashed potato. I think the reason it's considered acceptable is the one you suggested: people just don't think chips are made of potato.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Thursday, 10 July 2003 10:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Or maybe in the mists of chance is the possibility they think it tastes nice

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Cos I sure do, yessir

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't even know what mashies are. Someone explain!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't have too much carbo, guys. Spuds with spuds and a side dish of spuds isn't good for the figure, now.

Dr Atkins (daveb), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

To hell with that chips taste good, mash tastes good, new pots taste good.......*continue to fade*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 10 July 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

mashped potato not carbo. mashped potatoes mashped potato.

TIM@KFC.EDU, Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

TIM@KFC.EDU, Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

and no wons elses.

TIM@KFC.EDU, Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Martin, mashies are a new KFC inventiuon I think, and strictly for pimply teenagers. If I can deduce it from the ad, they are, urgh, deep fried mashed potato balls. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 11 July 2003 00:42 (twenty-two years ago)

They're deepfried in that trademark secret herbs and spices batter, yummmmy! That's good potatoes!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 11 July 2003 01:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim, you have mashed potato in your brain.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 11 July 2003 02:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Trayce, we have now had two KFC ads in Australia where someone is seen doing just that: dipping their chip into mashed potato

Ah so you're Australian too COlin - I did wonder :) I know the ad you mean, and thats what had me wondering, too.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 11 July 2003 04:01 (twenty-two years ago)

The way it's presented as the most normal thing for a person to do in the world... like wiping your soup plate with bread or something... sorry, but they just CANNOT slip it past us like that. I, for one, repudiate such an activity absolutely. It is absurd. Presposterous! No sirs! I will NOT have potato with my potato!
