Pimlico!!

chris (chris), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Or should I say New Burgundia

chris (chris), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, a truly great thing about Andorra is Eric El Viking.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Monaco has a PMN code of its own. As does Andorra. (Gibraltar does, as well, before anyone suggests...) Vatican City does not. VC wins!

(Sometimes I REALLY want to know where these countries are. Vanuatu? Where the heck is THAT?)

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't let the centre of the Catholic church win........

chris (chris), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

What does PMN mean?

Sealand, anyone?

My favourites are embassies with their own national rules, or that court in Holland which became part of Scotland for the Lockerbie trial.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

San Marino does not have its own PMN country code either. Where is it?

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

it's totally surrounded by Italy, Kate

Vanuatu is in an ocean...the Pacific I think.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

what's Sealand, Mark C? It sounds like somewhere you go to watch performing dolphins.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

PMN has something to do with Mobile Networks, I don't know what the P stands for.

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

San Marino has its own motor racing Grand Prix and its own national football team, but I don't think it has it's own currency.

And, although it has no border controls, the main post office will still charge you 5 euros to have yr passport stamped with a San Marino stamp.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I have seen Andorra FC in action against mighty Castelldefels. Seduced by my sophisticated appearance, a little boy asked me if I was from Andorra.

I nearly went to see the Andorran national team take on the Republic of Ireland and Holland, but it was dead expensive.

In partial answer to the question, the Andorrans seemed like a nice enough bunch, with a pleasingly rotund midfield general. I also once knew a very nice old bloke from Andorra who liked to worry British taxi drivers by saying, "I don't pay taxes".

Apologies to any older viewers who have heard all this before.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 10 July 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

San Marino did lovely stamps, I remember as a child.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 10 July 2003 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I once saw the country of San Marino's archery team give a demonstration at San Marino, California's high school. One guy even did a "robin hood" (splitting a arrow shot previously into the target).

nickn (nickn), Thursday, 10 July 2003 22:37 (twenty-two years ago)

PJ, don't all the Andorran team play for some pub team or something?

Isn't there a tiny tax haven place on the Italo-Swiss border that's as good as a tiny country?

chris (chris), Friday, 11 July 2003 07:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I think at least one member of the national team plays for a 'proper' team.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 11 July 2003 07:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah I see.

Hi PJ!

chris (chris), Friday, 11 July 2003 08:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi Chris.

I thought it was one of 'you lot' who told me this. I am obviously slipping.

Excuse me if I disappear, I am about to get kicked off.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 11 July 2003 08:15 (twenty-two years ago)
