Some people don't remember birthdays, Horace. It doesn't mean they don't love you.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 10 July 2003 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, it does.

ooh ooh, just had a wicked thought.
I could post the link, which goes to the sender's b'day alarm account or whatever, and then ALL OF ILX could put their b'day in there and really screw it up! hahahahahahaha

too evil? even for me?

I have a very hard time remembering birthdays. I have literally forgotten my own before. I would forget about Christmas if it weren't for the music.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 10 July 2003 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

This is dud if you send it to, like, your Mom. But if you're sending it to people whose birthdays you don't normally remember anyway, then it's pretty cool. "Ooh! He remembered to remember me!"

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 10 July 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a very good memory for people's birthdays and important events. I can remember the birthday of every boyfriend I ever had for example. Forgetting my birthday is like murdering my cat. Which is why I get so pissy with my father, who not only forgets my birthday but also seems to be under the impression that I am 28.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 10 July 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

(Ally, half of ILX is under the impression you're 28.)

Shit.

ILX: not the man who was involved in making me.

I try to remember birthdays, but I block them out most of the time. I hate them, particularly my own. The whole idea of having a "me day" is kind of gross to me. It's pretty deeply ingrained -- I think I was raised with the idea that any time anyone gives you presents or makes a show of appreciating you or shows you affection, the proper way to feel is horribly, deeply guilty. Birthdays make me feel awful. People making a fuss over me makes me feel unworthy. And presents make me feel like I owe the person something. It's a dreadful way to feel, and I am working on it, but until I get over my birthday phobia, there's a standing rule that my birthday will not be celebrated or even acknowledged by anyone.

I'm terrible at remembering them, and have to rush around getting presents at the last minute.

You should forget birthdays after 21.Forget the tragic reminder of mortality.
