Inedible cheese that is riddled with maggots.

Red Cabbage ice cream that has the sensory illusion of tasting like strawberries!

A grid of flapjacks of varying colour and consistency.

Come up with other ideas for Experimental Food Art...

Inedible cheese that is riddled with maggots.

Actually, in Italy (I think) they actually sell cheese like this and eat it. They call it "Moving Cheese".

Someone posted about it on the Cheese thread, hence the idea.

Come on, experimental food! Willy Wonka and all that! My poor unloved thread!

you should have been watching Graham Norton last night, or flicking between channels and suddenly thinking "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT" like I was when I saw the vegetable art-Pron.

Intravenous coffee administered by syringe! In fact, intravenous food which could all be administered by syringe! Which produces the actual sensations of eating by mouth - taste and texture and everything - unlike the boring intravenal feeding they do in hospitals.

A McDonald's Quarter Pounder sliced into millimetre thin slices lengthwise and then widthwise. Each resulting tiny piece is suspended in a glass box with wires, each bit an inch apart from the others.

Eating Mexican jumping beans with your hands tied behind your back. Though I guess this might be considered Extreme Eating rather than Experimental Food Art.

Extreme Eating and Experimental Food Art definitely overlap. In concept, at least. What about Conceptual Food?

kate (kate), Friday, 11 July 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

What about Conceptual Food?

There's a bit in Harry Hill's novel "Flight From Deathrow" where a woman is given a first course in a restaruant that is tiny bits of food blown through the flame of a bunsen burner, and the woman has to inhale the smoke from the resulting incineration.
