weather is...
saw...(tourist attractions etc.)
people are...
met...
reminds me of...

or just make a bunch of stuff up e.g. the place is currently under siege by a horde of Valyries, the sidewalks are made of jello and nobody casts a shadow, wish you were here (instead of me)!

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 13 July 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Weather hot
Beer cold
My room marked with an 'X'
Wish you were here.

I saw these lizards, and a snake! They all just roam around here, it's incredible. The bus system is just vans that you wave at, they take you wherever you like on the island and you pretty much just pay enough to cover gas. I hope we can be here together sometime, I think you'd love it. Love, Andrew

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 13 July 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

My parents usually write and tell me about the local dogs tehy've seen, and that they haven't seen that many cats.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 13 July 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

That is fantastic.

I'm hopeless on these. No imagination, probably.

"the food is horrible and I can't wait to come home"

Postcard to my parents when I was 14 and on a school trip to Wales.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 13 July 2003 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I usually write at least one card asserting that I have not been kidnapped and am not being forced to write or sign this card and that I am being treated very well.

This is going to the template for all future postcards I send.

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I say things like "I've just been attacked by a flying lettuce."

fougasse (Jake Proudlock), Monday, 14 July 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

The best one I got recently was a list of things overheard at Old Faithful, the geyser in Yellowstone. So many banal comments, so much fun.

Once I went to NYC and sent this boy I was vaguely dating a postcard I covered with a hundred or so stick figures and the message "New York is very very crowded."

And when we were in Olympia my roommate sent a card to my parents of Mt St Helens. I scrawled in heavy marks "MOUNTAIN GO BOOM!"

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 14 July 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

two years pass...
some just say "hello from ___". its better if they say more though, but sometimes they are hard to write, if quite a few are being sent
