Raymond and Peter - Classic or Dud?

Uh, so what do people think about this curious bit of mid-90's hipster culture?

Did anyone have an issue with the surreptitious recording of these reprobates? Was it even for real? The recordings always seemed TOO clear to have been just taken through the walls.

It's an oddly beckoning recording. I've certainly had my share of laffs to it; I guess I gotta say classic.

Still classic. So beautiful, so right, so wrong all at once. Donut Bitch and I have been known to use key phrases at appropriate moments.

"You are JUST fucking UP!"

And yes, it was for real. All too real.

I was totally hoping this would be a Mr. Diamond thread. :-)

As for the actual Shut Up Little Man record, it does touch a couple of PC nerves if I bother to think about it, but there are some people in this world who drag themselves so far down beyond the farthest outpost of salvation that they lose all their rights as members of a civilized society and any mockery they get is inevitable and probably on some level even defensible. Which is to say I think this shit is hilarious.

"Someday I will kill you. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow..."

As Eddie Lee Sausage put it, you have to wonder what kind of right to privacy somebody expects when he's shouting at the top of his lungs.

R&P are amazing in small doses, depressing in large ones.

actually Seymour Glass said that Douglas check the liner notes

oh Jody Beth you know I love you. Will you marry me?

Where the heck is Baked Bean Teeth? One of the reasons I started this silly thread is that I was trying to get him to post.

"I HATE ALL QUEERS!!!!"

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Monday, 14 July 2003 22:49 (twenty-two years ago)

My favorite line (as hinted at above) remains:

"...You crucified dinner..."

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 14 July 2003 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

YES!!!

"...and YOU CRUCIFIED it!!"

If anyone around ever gets all starry-eyed about the prospect of San Francisco life, I always warn them and play this.

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 14 July 2003 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

and then they get even more starry-eyed!

seriously though, the lower haight/duboce triangle (like almost every other neighborhood in SF) has seen quite a bit of changes in the past 10-15 years.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 14 July 2003 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, you're right. Sorry about that.

"Ya RUINED it! God DAMN you!"

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 14 July 2003 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)
