Is it because the music scene is supposedly "hot" here now? I see no other reason for this shitty-ass weather and nonsummer to be inflicted on a city this far from the corridors of power. BITE ME!!! BITE ME, STUPID RAIN!!!! This totally goes against the logic of revenge. Or... does it? The Native Americans weren't in it with whatever gods gave Europe the second-pooawfullest climate in the world, not to mention the plague, were they? You didn't make your belt-buckle-brandishing father's boss such an asshole, did you? And surely it's not by order of Man that Fran Drescher has to harpoon herself with tampons every month. I don't even know how to drive and I'm happy in north Uptown -- the public transit is the best I think imaginable in the City of Stupid Drivers, Sociopaths in SUVs, and Broken Trains. (Having a car almost sounds worse than not having one!!!)It's close to the lake too, lots of nice places to walk and listen to headphones. However, since we AN's have provided the thin wedge of gentrification, rents are shooting up, so get in fast with a landlord who likes you.

"North Uptown"? Like Argyle?

The area between the lake Clark between Montrose and Foster can be kind of icky. I wouldn't look there. Also parking is really difficult in that neighborhood. Farther west, like west of Ashland, parking generally gets really easy.

I'd recommend living off the Brown Line, if you plan to work downtown.

(Jessa's sister just got a place at Bryn Mawr and Sheridan, and she's really excited about it, and it's $700 for 500 sq feet, and she plans to live with her new boyfriend. I think this is a terrible idea. I know firsthand what 500 square feet can do to a new relationship.)

hey, i'm watching the news, lake shore drive between division and north avenue is under water, looks like two lanes open going north, one going south. traffic is fucked, adjust your travel plans accordingly.

also, jerry taft on wls said that the channel 7 studio got between 3 and four inches of rain in the last hour so i'm sure the red line and blue line are going to be fucked too.

I am in the Sears Tower right now (little more than halfway up). And although I know, academically, that the building was built to sway, I actually experienced it with all of my senses a little while ago. Very much not at all fun. i worked at the obv. deck of the hancock for a while. on any windy day you can lean into the windows, pressing your forehead to the glass, look down and watch your field of view change by several feet back and forth on the ground below.
