actually, literally fucking classic, I didn't sleep with a white boy until I moved to the midwest.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Being loco? Yes. Acting it, with your friendly neighborhood shotgun? No.

(That being said, Chuy, you're a plus)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

you sure is better than the blacks

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I take it that was meant ironically somehow.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 23:45 (twenty-two years ago)

For oops' sake, I hope it was...

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

obviously he's joking but his timing is for shit :(

ron (ron), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not sure if I like this thread.

That Girl (thatgirl), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Viva Mexico! I love Mexico and look forward to visiting Mexico City sometime next year.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:21 (twenty-two years ago)

me too! woohoo!

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I second That Girl's emotion.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

the apparent good faith of the first few responses (i.e., believing that this is actually a Mexican feller) is further proof that ILX0rs are the sweetest people around

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:34 (twenty-two years ago)

*checks IPs* It might just be someone who IS Mexican, actually.

CLASSIC CLASSIC CLASSIC

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:38 (twenty-two years ago)

*looks in the mirror*

I AM American. I am NOT Mexican. My grandparents were born in Mexico, but I was born in the U.S. I am therefore AMERICAN.

Um, Mexicans = dud, save for my family of course. And the MAYBE five hetero Mexican guys who have evolved from any sort of "muy macho" stance AND who manage to have good tastes in music. *smiles*

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Chinga tu madre!

Pinche Pendejo (Pinche Pendejo), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, whatever. *rolls eyes*

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

woah woah.. .i still got three weeks till school. Let's hold off the spanish cursing please.

that said VIVA LA RAZA!

That Girl (thatgirl), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I still think Pinche Pendejo is the greatest ILXor name, I mean what the hell?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

La raza is fine, really. Couldn't be prouder, etc. Hell, I couldn't even hide it if I'd wanted to. I look the damn part. But I love sensitive, pale, gentle, creative men, and the chances of me winning a lottery are greater than of me finding un hombre Latino quien es todas las cosas.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Pero, estudie Español para cuatro de mis años en escuela, y comprendo mucho de la idioma. No puedo hablar mas que una chiquita, pero es una cosa que quiero..., um, improve.

Damn, that didn't work....

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 01:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i so want to go to Mexico

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 01:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Yo Latin mama, check out your hombre.

Tad, the real Mexico or the beach resort type places?

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

But I love sensitive, pale, gentle, creative men, and the chances of me winning a lottery are greater than of me finding un hombre Latino quien es todas las cosas.

No hay!

I still think Pinche Pendejo is the greatest ILXor name, I mean what the hell?

Orale!

Yeah, whatever. *rolls eyes*

Ay carajo!

Pinche Pendejo (Pinche Pendejo), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 01:12 (twenty-two years ago)

the real mexico, of course. the maya and aztec pyramids, the mexico city subway, xochimilco, mexican guys sleeping under cacti with big-ass sombreros, the real deal!

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 01:13 (twenty-two years ago)

and the day of the dead!

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 01:16 (twenty-two years ago)

"No hay" es la verdad, por supuesto.

And I know you're just funnin' with me on that last bit, Tad. Pero, felicitaciones por su viaje. (I'm too tired to know if that's the correct Spanish.)

Ooh, the Day of the Dead. Much funnage there. If you're going to Monterrey, please do picnic at the big cemetery there for me. My paternal grandpa is buried somewhere in there.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 01:18 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the one thread where I might get to point out that Ana Gabriel is like totally, totally great, especially the first song on "Mi Talisman" and "Es Demaciado Tarde."

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I am, I think, the only person around here who regularly bigs up Mexican and other Central & South American music. This makes me triste, pero no es una cosa grande--but what exactly is up with ignoring all the wonderful beautiful weird hilarious music that is created so close to here?

My family and I are traveling to Playa del Carmen en agosto to soak up the culture I feel in my heart. Viva Toluca, me gustan mucho los Diablos Rojos! < /functional HS & NYC espanol>

Neudonym, Wednesday, 16 July 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yes, and one more thing: If any of you going to Mexico in the near future could go to el Distrito Federal and kick Vicente Fox's ass for me, that would be lovely, thanks.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 04:18 (twenty-two years ago)

kick it yourself, Dee, you're the closest anyway.

Neudonym, Wednesday, 16 July 2003 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Ouch. Point taken. I'll just have to wait until I can go, then.

*starts saving money for steel-toed boots*

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

and what's with all the hate for Fox? everyone loved him because he was supposed to be El Caudillo, bush's big buddy/compadre/sidekick/lapdog, and now that he's not Firmly In The Pocket: the backlash. or do I have that wrong?

Neudonym, Wednesday, 16 July 2003 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't really say - I know his party got rocked the other day at the ballot box and I really doubt it was cuz he spurned Bush

James Blount (James Blount), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 05:01 (twenty-two years ago)

no, it was all failure to deliver on promises...but no one really believed those promises anyway! they just were tired of the ruling party, voted in the Tall Handsome US-Lovin' Guy, and hoped he'd hitch the wagon to a star, and now they're pissed he didn't. I think. (I don't really know either, JB)

(and I was more referring to people like Dee, Americans who've soured on Fox, anyway. seems a lot of grrrr at him for not marching to The Tune)

(I could be wrong and often am)

Neudonym, Wednesday, 16 July 2003 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Most classic of all: gay Mexican Morrissey fans.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 05:08 (twenty-two years ago)

they're all from California and Texas, Kenan, methinks

Neudonym, Wednesday, 16 July 2003 05:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Part of this need to kick Fox's ass is because I'm having the Worst Time of My Entire Life and I am feeling very violent over things that would ordinarily just annoy me.

But as for the annoyance factor -- it really annoys me that Fox's government refuses to extradite criminals accused of murder here in the U.S. because of the possibility that they'd be sentenced not to the death penalty but to life in prison without the possibility of parole, which he seems to think is "cruel & unusual punishment". He also wants the U.S. to take in everyone who crosses the border into this country without question (kinda makes it unfair for all those other people who file the legitimate papers, AND unfair to people such as my grandparents who emigrated LEGALLY), and has refused to put pressure on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande area to release the water it owes the people who live on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande area. All of these things annoy me. I'd just be annoyed, though, if it weren't for all the shit I'm going through now personally. Now I'm on an ass-kicking frenzy and I really feel the need to beat someone senseless, but only someone who deserves it.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

oh.

hope you feel better, Dee.

Neudonym, Wednesday, 16 July 2003 05:19 (twenty-two years ago)

NAFTA, baby!

Girolamo Savonarola, Wednesday, 16 July 2003 05:22 (twenty-two years ago)

look mang joo don know ok?

chuy_loco (chuy_loco), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 07:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Most classic of all: gay Mexican Morrissey fans.

Really? I always thought it was all the Luche Libre Masque toting Misfits fans circa la frontera Baja California. I could, of course, be sadly mistaken.

Pinche Pendejo (Pinche Pendejo), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Call me regionalist, but Mexico and Mexicans seem a bit dim
compared to people from Nicuragua and El Salvador (the latter being
my ancestral stomping grounds).

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Circa? No es un hombre authentico, ¿verdad? Because it's really "cerca de". If memory serves me correctly, that's the correct spelling.

And Squirrel Police? That's not the dimness, that's the muy macho! thing. But hey, I have intelligent relatives and we haven't been affected mentally by our ethnic bloodline. ;)

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Mexico doesn't really feature on UK radar, other than as a holiday destination. For Morrissey.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i want to go to Teothiuthacan or whatever its called (pardon my ignorance and laziness)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm reading a book (in spanish) on the state of Queretaro, it is sehr schön judging by the pictures. DF is really one of the most invigorating cities I've travelled to, I can't wait to return.

I was in Oaxaca last month for a little surfing/30th bday trip, I got to brush up on my very poor spanish language skills.

¡aztlan!

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

wow Squirrel Police; don't you know Mexico & yr Central Americans could rule the world if you just stuck together!

Everyone, really, do yourselves a favor. Listen to El Gran Silencio, the new Cafe Tacuba, Celso Pina, Julieta Venegas, Jaguares, Thalia, Control Machete (now maybe not so hot since Fermin IV went all born again but his solo work sounds pretty cool so whatever), the Nortec Collective stuff including splitters like Fussible, Kinky (whom I find overrated but they've lots of potential), the narcocorrido stuff like Los Tucanes de Tijuana--Mexico is very leading-edge musically these days! And all the Spanish-language pop coming out of Texas and SoCal is unbeatable these days too: I've been trying to tell everybody that cumbia is the new metal, and it's true. Weep when I'm proven right!

But really, SP, the whole 'racial intelligence trait' thing is madness

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

How can you say something like that and not expect everyone to be highly offended? You know how sensitive we are w/r/t underlining.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

dee, i've totally found a sensitive, pale(ish), gentle, creative mexican guy! and tall to boot!
i mean, he's not from mexico, he's *ethnically* mexican...but his parents are from mexico i'm pretty sure.
you can't have him, though, i like him. and he's just stellar in bed.

Well, considering the fact that, in living memory, we've
deployed our armed forces over disputed soccer games - not
gonna happen.

Salvis think of themselves as more objective and rational and intellectual than Mexicans. They Also love giving their kids names that sound bizarre next to spanish surnames. I've known Bizmark Garcia, Patriot Reyes and a dude named Westmoreland.

mexicans are awesome!

el borracho (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 26 August 2006 01:15 (nineteen years ago)

i rode through highland park today on my way up to the eagle rock target and i had this really sentimental-dork moment as i watched a couple dozen little mexican kids burst out of school all at once and run towards the local pizzeria. and then in eagle rock i saw these mexican longhair metalhead dudes standing outside the yum-yum donuts, bouncing up and down happily like wayne and garth. it was the best.

el borracho (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 26 August 2006 01:28 (nineteen years ago)

i once heard a woman talk about how glad she was to be back in texas because her kids would not grow up prejudiced there as opposed to Connecticut. she elaborated that mexicans were better because they respected themselves, not like those nasty Dominicans. this bizarre rascist "logic" - like the "model minority" shit you hear about asians - left me dumbfounded.

timmy tannin (pompous), Saturday, 26 August 2006 01:39 (nineteen years ago)

i'm, for one, very happy to be taking a leave of absence from mx.city in a few weeks.
it's kinda sad because i love the city, but i'm tired of having to put up with all the mierda that living here entails.

that said, ¿hay gente de méxico que postea en ilx?

I love fair skin and would absolutely adore having fair skin, but my skin tone will never be that way. It will always be olive-toned and will always be darker than I'd like it to be. I know that sounds bigoted, but it really isn't. It's just how my mind works. I would also love to have a smaller, more petite nose, larger eyes, lighter-colored hair, lighter-colored eyes, an appearance that isn't so "ethnic" (in the Native American/Mexican sense), and a smaller forehead.

and what (ooo), Monday, 9 October 2006 23:37 (nineteen years ago)
