BINGO!

NA. (Nick A.), Thursday, 17 July 2003 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

this is amazing.

praying mantis (praying mantis), Thursday, 17 July 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, can I count myself for all of the squares I checked off?

NA. (Nick A.), Thursday, 17 July 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I agree with mantis, this is simply AMAZING.

Aaron A., Thursday, 17 July 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm so glad for the existence of this. I'm still at work and I'm already an ironic trucker-cap away from a bingo!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 17 July 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

If I got a star tattoo, I'd be the bottom row bingo!!!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 17 July 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I have none of these! I transcend the board.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 July 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I work in a computer department. How am I to compete?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 17 July 2003 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I know this properly belongs on the trucker cap thread, but I don't feel like searching:

Sighted today in New York's Soho: elderly Midwestern tourist couple wearing rakish brand-new mesh caps that said "Lower East Side." Ironic?

Paul Eater (eater), Thursday, 17 July 2003 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

not so much ironic as fucking awesome.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 17 July 2003 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

not so much ironic as fucking awesome

That's what I want my cap to say.

Paul Eater (eater), Thursday, 17 July 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I like how people who are either 8 or 4 feet tall are just fucked

Millar (Millar), Thursday, 17 July 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

also I had no idea Parliaments and MHL were hip, I'm v. disappointed

Millar (Millar), Thursday, 17 July 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I doesn't really need to be pointed out that the NYC FAP photo thread has at least three full BINGOs, does it?

Millar (Millar), Thursday, 17 July 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

i have the shoes on the right = 7% hipster.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 17 July 2003 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I should post the picture of the Pabst drinking...

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 18 July 2003 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't get the 8 foot man or the four foot women. This is hip now? Am I out of the loop?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 18 July 2003 02:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I can't explain it, but it made me laugh. I think I just thought of all the tiny, tiny indie chix I've seen at shows.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 18 July 2003 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

the 8 foot dude is like at every show I've ever been to that features a band on Dischord. He has seven different faces.

Millar (Millar), Friday, 18 July 2003 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

He's also the bassist for an emo band I know.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 18 July 2003 03:21 (twenty-two years ago)

only four, thank god

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I get seven. But (the hopeless hipster said) none of the really embarrassing ones.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I have the glasses but I've had them since I was fifteen and REALLY want to get rid of them, I actually really hate the way people treat me when I wear them.

Nellie (nellskies), Friday, 18 July 2003 06:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Like Ned, I am UnHipster.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 18 July 2003 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Man, I wish I'd had this at the art opening last night. Then HSA wouldn't have got so cranky and cross waiting for them to set up, we could have been having fun instead!

(Though I think the Hoxton version is slightly different)

kate (kate), Friday, 18 July 2003 08:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Let us fight the good fight, Brother Farrell. (Even better was the fact I didn't even have to do anything, it just happens that way!)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 July 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

What is the UK equiv of Pabst Blue Ribbon? (this qn came up in the pub last night - we thought maybe Skol?)

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 19 July 2003 09:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha! I didn't realize it when this thread first came around, but hipster bingo was designed by my friend Ryan! That's two web phenomena for my peer group.

J (Jay), Monday, 28 July 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I still need to get that star tattoo.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 28 July 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the tough one, I think.

J (Jay), Monday, 28 July 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Not really, it'll be pretty painless. I can put it on my foot to cover up the big stigmata like freckle.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 28 July 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
Someone out there finally played Hipster Bingo for real

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 04:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, I actually played hipster bingo for real! I'd been carrying score cards around with me waiting for the perfect opportunity (I still got a shit-load of 'em for when VHS or Beta plays here).

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

(it's hella fun btw, especially when you're so drunk you point and laugh - "ie ha ha ha look it's an ironic trucker hat BINGO MUTHAFUCKAZZZZZ!!!!! *drains gazillionth shot of Jaeger*)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I play Hipster Bingo for real every goddamned weekend, hello? Do I need to post that Strokes picture again?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

my sisters made fun of me for saying 'hella' this weekend, they said that saying 'hella' was 'hella 1999'. : (

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 00:24 (twenty-two years ago)

haha in Oak/Berk/SF "hella" is old enough to drive haha

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Beautiful.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i drink pabst because i'm cheap i wear tight clothes because i am so fat from drinking pabst they are really big clothes and i wear old school vans because my feet are wide from weighing 800 pounds

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm gonna go get that star tattoo.

Allyzay, Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i am going to get a tiger tattoo. coming out of my arm like RAWR

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy shit I forgot Miller High Life was on the hipster bingo score card. I'm becoming what I hate!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Star tattoo is useful because it's in the corner. Ally, then all you need is the down vest and BINGO.

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, did you say you had the vest? I can no longer read. I dont knead skool.

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to have the vest but it made me look a bit chubby so I threw it out. Maybe I should buy a new one?

ironically getting ironic things to be ironic towards irony: classic or dud?

Allyzay, Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Well you could also go for the bottom left to top right diagonal bingo if phil-two and jess show up at the next FAP.

Naw, it's better to be vain than to be a hipster. You have to be awfully good-looking to wear that Mick Jagger haircut. I need all the help I can get.

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

omg you're right, jess is the 8ft tall guy. Too bad Joel cut his hair cos this weekend's fap could've been "B" bingo :(

Allyzay, Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

ironically getting ironic things to be ironic towards irony: classic or dud?

Ironically, Catbirdseat Ryan (ironic inventor of hipster bingo) and I ironically went to the Ohio State Fair together, and he ironically bought a trucker hat that ironically says I LOVE BINGO on it.

http://www.catbirdseat.org/catbirdseat/ultimate.jpg

whoa.

J (Jay), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck, I'm one hot Asian hipster (male) away from Bingo. But the chunky frames don't count since I never wear my glasses.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Thursday, 6 November 2003 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

Meet the global scenester: He's hip. He's cool. He's everywhere

DG, Thursday, 14 August 2008 11:43 (seventeen years ago)

scenesters all wear the same clothes and accessories, listen to the same sounds

Once, style tribes defined themselves by their music. There were disco divas, electro heads, hippy West Coast rockers.... But in the age of the MP3, anything really does go

WHICH IS IT

DJ Mencap, Thursday, 14 August 2008 11:56 (seventeen years ago)

BTW was kind of hoping revive was about this photo

DJ Mencap, Thursday, 14 August 2008 12:01 (seventeen years ago)

Sure we've clowned Tim Walker on ILX before for something else... any idea what?

Anyway, dreadful article obviously, seemingly written by a man in 2003. The idea that Vice is a "Hipster's Bible" and not "What you read in a provincial town when you're 17 and think that a white guy saying 'nigger' is the most subversive shit ever" is jokes bruv as well

I also saw what might be like a hipster hag? Much like a fag hag, only for the waifish dude.

mh, Friday, 2 July 2010 19:02 (fifteen years ago)

80s fuji/peugot/schwinn/bridgestone 10 speed converted to fixed gear should be on list IMO

i bet you could get a couple bills for it on craigslist, depending on condition

the reverend dr. william wiggins (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 2 July 2010 21:38 (fifteen years ago)

I had no clue what a fixed gear bike even was until I heard two of the younger women in my office complaining about hipsters. my reaction was very WTF

has arlen specter never heard clarence thomas's laugh? (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 2 July 2010 21:39 (fifteen years ago)

i get the single speed thing because honestly i end up only using about 3 gears of my 21 anyway...but robbing yourself of the pleasure of coasting down a hill is crazy to me.

esp the ppl that don't have brakes on their bikes

the reverend dr. william wiggins (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 2 July 2010 21:40 (fifteen years ago)

the derailleur changed everything imho

_▂▅▇█▓▒░◕‿‿◕░▒▓█▇▅▂_ (Steve Shasta), Friday, 2 July 2010 21:40 (fifteen years ago)

Shakey, you live in the Mission and are unaware of the fixed gear bike?

bearotaurdo montalban (sarahel), Friday, 2 July 2010 21:42 (fifteen years ago)

please tell me this conversation happened in 2007.

bearotaurdo montalban (sarahel), Friday, 2 July 2010 21:42 (fifteen years ago)

haha no it happened earlier this year! I don't own a bike and know nothing about them beyond that there are bikes with gears (10 speed, 21 speed, whatever) and bikes without. I had never heard this "fixed gear" term before. Biking in this city seems like a huge pain in the ass/invitation to injury, I've never bothered.

has arlen specter never heard clarence thomas's laugh? (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 2 July 2010 21:47 (fifteen years ago)

I don't even know how to ride a bike but the hipsters on fixies thing has been a "meme" for several years now in SF

bearotaurdo montalban (sarahel), Friday, 2 July 2010 21:48 (fifteen years ago)
