I like Argyle

LC has a nice(?) T-shirt that has a pattern on it that looks like a Bridget Reilly painting. She says that it's to stop men talking at her breasts, cos if they try it they'll get a migraine.

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Why is breat not a word? It LOOKS like a word. Make it a word.

Stripes. Geometry. No traditional patterns. Except for tartan on girls.

Nick, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't know what you're talking about Dastoor-face. I don't make spelling mistakes.

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

FOUL! The DG he abuse his moderator privileges! IT SAID "BREATS".

Nick, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No it didn't. I think you want to see an optician, Dastoor-pants.

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't see how you could mistake that word for 'breats' Nick. But DG, does LC know you refer to them in this way?

Tom, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You have mispelled migraine so it is almost inevitable that you have mispelled breasts. Call them tits instead, it is much easier to spell.

Emma, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Anyway DG. Let's forget the breats - I've been thinking. A woman has a pattern on her chest and that's supposed to stop men looking at it? Yeah right. People aren't not going to look for fear it will give them a migraine. OK, the odd cautious migraine-sufferer might look away after a while for that reason, but the fact remains that when it comes to looking at all, overall she's going to get far more men looking than if she had a plain T-shirt, because "Hey - Pattern!". Ergo the Divine LC is either an idiot or a liar who is ashamed to admit (to you?) she loves people staring at her chest.

Nick, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nope, they can stare but they will get a migraine, and so not do it again. You see?

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I wasn't struck by a migraine when I was staring at LC's breasts that time at Sussed. Maybe she was wearing the wrong top?

Tom, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sussed...sussed...hmm...no, I don't think it was THE top.

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, a lucky escape for me then. Is there not a danger they'd be hypnotised instead, or is that the SECRET POINT?

"Empowering" T-Shirt slogans - classic or dud?

Tom, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No, it isn't a swirly hyponotic pattern, it's a migraine-inducing stripey pattern.

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think DG is giving men too much credit in his 'staring at breasts causes migraines so I will cease staring at breasts' theory for they are simple souls, bless them.

Emma, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Empowering" T-Shirt slogans - classic or dud?

Dud dud dud. I don't know what I will do if I see another "Diva" or "Princess" t-shirt. But it won't be pretty.

Here's a good fashion rule of thumb: once Jessica Simpson has worn something, it is officially PLAYED OUT.

Nicole, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well DG it all depends on how much the divine LC hangs out with men who have previously looked at her T-shirt and come a cropper. Considering all the 'first timers' and migraine immune men (I could stare a Bridget Reilly stripes for hours without ill effects) there are around, I still think either she or you is a sucker.

Nick, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey! I'm feeling a lot of hostility coming from your direction dude, take a chill pill or something.

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

MMM... chill pill.

DG, sorry - I thought it was understood that I find the whole DG & Divine LC thing unwaveringly entertaining and enjoy writing 'the divine LC' at every opportunity. There is no hostility. I am never hostile.

Nick, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think its more a case of not giving men enough credit, I mean if the choice is between staring at breasts with the risk of a migraine and having to hold a conversation with the sort of woman who chooses her clothes based on the amount of men who stare at her breasts then I think we're making the right chice.

Ronan, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Of course I understand that, why do you think I haven't edited all your posts implicating you as being behind the WTC attack and then forwarding a link to the FBI? Eh? I can't believe you find it so entertaining though. Why?

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I cannot say.

Nick, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes you can, Nicholas.

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Search: Pinstripe (pref. of the navy blue variety)

Destroy: everything else

jamesmichaelward, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My favorite shirt is one with a q-bert pattern. Unfortunately there aren't many q-bert patterned things around.

nicole, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't really like patterns besides stripes.

Ally, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

As long as they're not White Stripes...

Nicole, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I just want to give props to paisley! I also like 70's floral patterns on things lately. What's that funny checkered pattern called, you know, the one that looks like tessilated(sp?) birds? I don't like that one. I like polka-dot patterns too.

marianna, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm waiting, Dastoor.

DG, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have a brown houndstooth jacket. In fact it is my only Proper Jacket but it is made of wool so I try and make sure that nothing fancy ever happens during the summer months.

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Do you mean dogtooth, Marianna?

I don't really do patterns.

Emma, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like (to laugh at) those diamond pringle jumpers that Alan Partridge and Andy Peters wear. In fact Andy Peters is a laugh a minute.

Ronan, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Love patterns, hate floral patterns except for Chinese/Japanese ones, and then I'm quite picky.

suzy, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I did mean dogtooth if that's what it's called. I am a big fan of argyle socks and sweaters, but those pringle ones are so expensive.

The patterns on ties are a whole 'nother kettle of fish. Diagonal Stripes - Yuk!

marianna, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I love patterns wherever they are. Here, for instance, are some chunks of kirsch gamache I saw the other day at the confectionary counter of Dean and Deluca.Bridget Riley you can eat.

Momus, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Momus, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's one thing to eat that sort of fanciness but another thing to wear it. Those look delish, but I'd never wear such a thing in my life. Which is good cos you don't wear food. Except for candy necklaces. Now that is the bomb.

Ally, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I love just about all patterns on skirts and pants, excepting pastel florals, but I prefer plain shirts or shirts with words and pictures. (90* Angle!)

Lyra, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't like polka dots. I especially don't like big polka dots.

Tabs, Thursday, 20 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I love patterns. On Wallpaper on Clothes on TAbles everywhere. Even in my food. Those candies look great.
