I mean, of course it's possible to do anything horribly.

anything vs. anyone

Scorpions parodies?

nestmanso (nestmanso), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

There are people who manage to have happy, active ILXing lives without ever posting anything horrible, and I admire and envy them.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

But have given up on attempting to emulate them?

'Scorpions parodies'

Gulf Coast weather forecasters to thread!

N., I try my best. It's just that some people seem to merit the more aggressive approach.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think I've ever heard anyone sing an irredeemable version of "I Saw Her Standing There." It's idiot-proof.

Douglas (Douglas), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

that strikes me as a particularly difficult song to sing on pitch and beat, for early Beatles stylee.

Exactly!

It's impossible to do something well horribly. Since, if you are doing something horribly, it follows that you are not doing it well. And vice versa.

can you boil water horribly?

i suppose you can, if you splash it on people whilst you're boiling it..

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 24 July 2003 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

can you splash boiling water on people horribly though?

oops (Oops), Thursday, 24 July 2003 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

how can you not?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 24 July 2003 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)

If they're on fire and you're splashing boiling water on them to put them out... that's not horrible...?

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Thursday, 24 July 2003 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

It is horrible actually. I can't imagine anything more horrible.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Thursday, 24 July 2003 03:07 (twenty-two years ago)

no no no. the goal is to splash people w/boiling water. I figure the only way you can do that horribly is to not get any water on them.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 24 July 2003 03:08 (twenty-two years ago)

..and to get it on yourself instead

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 24 July 2003 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

No, look, it's horrible! Picture it! Even if you do it skilfully and without malice, it's still horrible! Like, screaming and agony horrible.

In fact, the only way to do it non-horribly is to miss the person, and for them not to be alight in the first place.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 24 July 2003 03:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Pretending that colin posted on the right thread: it IS possible to drink water horribly, like if you took the glass of water from someone dying of thirst and gulped it down before smacking your lips and wiping your mouth.

Is it possible to save a six-year old girl from being hit by an oncoming car horribly?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 24 July 2003 08:09 (twenty-two years ago)

sure, you push her out of the way, right into oncoming traffic

oops (Oops), Thursday, 24 July 2003 08:12 (twenty-two years ago)

or off the road bridge down 500 feet onto a train track, to be squashed beyond recognition by a 600 tonne freight train.
