What more needs to be said?

luna (luna.c), Friday, 25 July 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Add to chocolate. Experience heaven.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 July 2003 01:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Who's going to start the inevitable "Brits and baked beans" thread?

Aaron A., Friday, 25 July 2003 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Thailand and the USA - united only by their love of peanut butter.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 25 July 2003 02:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I've faked a thai thing by spooning peanut butter into some curry ramen.

*waits for the gourmand jihad*

g--ff c-nn-n (gcannon), Friday, 25 July 2003 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but peanut butter here is almost universally considered a dessert/"sweet food" condiment... it has many other uses for good savory sauce bases in stir fry, but that use is still considered exotic in America.

I regularly spread peanut butter over raw broccoli for lunch every day. This has grossed out a few of my co-workers, and I was like "Oh jesus fucking christ, you've never had peanut stir-fry before?"

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 25 July 2003 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Good point. I say something similar to people who are groosed out by me marinading chicken in orange juice - 'what, you've never had duck a l'orange or lemon chicken before?

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 25 July 2003 02:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I think abt 35% of my diet is braeburn apples sliced with p-b.

g--ff c-nn-n (gcannon), Friday, 25 July 2003 02:57 (twenty-two years ago)

The peanut's butter form must release some chemical or something because the smell alone drives me into the kitchen for a glass of water to rinse out the memory of it. I push the air back out of my nostrils forcibly. YYYYYYCCCCCH so heavy and so nasty! It's like the Drakkar Noir of the spreadable food family. Horrible.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 25 July 2003 04:44 (twenty-two years ago)

what's the Old Spice? Marmite?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 25 July 2003 04:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Shedd's Spread

Marmite is Ben-Gay

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 25 July 2003 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I have grown up I guess and no longer eat the supersweet Honey Roasted Creamy Skippy (it's Skippy, right, not Jif?) but instead do the Trader Joe's So Natural It Separates And Becomes This Nasty Thick Stuff That Will Turn Your Stomach If You Leave It In The Fridge Too Long Crunchy; clearly I am crazy and should go back to the processed peanut butters.

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 25 July 2003 07:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I love peanut butter, it's the best thing ever!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 25 July 2003 08:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 25 July 2003 08:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 25 July 2003 08:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 25 July 2003 08:04 (twenty-two years ago)

You're nude?!

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 25 July 2003 08:05 (twenty-two years ago)

On the PEANUT BUTTER thread?!

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 25 July 2003 08:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it your birthday? Because Nick might be sneaking in to surprise you.

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 25 July 2003 08:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh wait, that wasn't Nick, that was H.

Still, I'll bet now that the idea's in Nick's head...

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 25 July 2003 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmm...

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 25 July 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I eat peanut butter without anything else, just like spoonfuls of it. Especially if I'm on my period. FYI.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 25 July 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

im eating a peanut butter and banana muffin right now. Orgasmic.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 25 July 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

do you know that human sh*t tastes like this.
it has already been broken down by bodily fluids,
can't be anymore and tastes like peanut butter.

smooth or crunchy ? i'm sorry but i couldn't say.

piscesboy, Friday, 25 July 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Processed peanut butter is way better than the natural organic stuff.

Sean (Sean), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris has completely obviated the need for me to post to this thread.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

five years pass...

I'm glad to see PCA shut down, but I have to admit the Austin Cheese Crackers w/Peanut Butter were just about my favorite unhealthy snack in the world.

WmC, Friday, 13 February 2009 23:42 (seventeen years ago)

its gotta be HOOSy para steen (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Friday, 13 February 2009 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

mookieproof, Friday, 13 February 2009 23:48 (seventeen years ago)

I wonder how many more of these outbreak/scares we need before we finally start decentralizing food processing in america.

kingfish, Saturday, 14 February 2009 00:19 (seventeen years ago)

So we can have a lot of little outbreaks.

You just got HAPPENED (Hurting 2), Saturday, 14 February 2009 00:32 (seventeen years ago)

Peanut butter we are still as close as we ever were, don't worry.

i'm shy (Abbott), Saturday, 14 February 2009 01:09 (seventeen years ago)

I usually just get my peanut butter from the little peanut grindie machines at the market. I never need to use an entire jar within a year. that said, there is something about that peanut butter/shortening confection they call Skippy or Jif. It has an undeniable grade school lunchroom smell.

System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Saturday, 14 February 2009 02:49 (seventeen years ago)

I haven't eaten peanut butter in at least five years.

The Reverend, Saturday, 14 February 2009 21:51 (seventeen years ago)

seventeen years pass...

Apart from music Peanut butter is probably the US at it's best. Just trying to be positive about the place

This chart of per capita peanut butter consumption by country is interesting: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/cp/charted-peanut-butter-consumption-per-capita-by-country/

Not surprised that African and East Asian countries dominate, but I am surprised that the Netherlands and Belgium eat more than the U.S.

paper plans (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 21 February 2026 19:57 (four months ago)

maybe some nefarious speculoos manufacturer is doping with peanut butter?

just speculooting.

Philip Nunez, Saturday, 21 February 2026 20:06 (four months ago)

Wonder why Argentinians eat a ton of it but Brazilians very little

Josefa, Saturday, 21 February 2026 20:09 (four months ago)

Apparently Argentina is the largest peanut producer in Latin America and one of the largest exporters of peanuts and peanut butter in the world. Which I'm just guessing means it's probably cheaper and more available in Argentina than other South American countries.

paper plans (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 21 February 2026 20:16 (four months ago)

Really interesting peanut butter facts!

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 21 February 2026 20:26 (four months ago)

https://www.agrocrops.com/en/peanuts-blogs/the-largest-peanut-producers-in-the-world

Brazil is South America's second-largest peanut producer, and the second largest peanut consumer in America, after the United States.

Just not peanut butter?

Kim Kimberly, Saturday, 21 February 2026 20:32 (four months ago)

Apparently mostly as candy and sweets? https://easybrazilianfood.com/brazilian-peanut-candy-pacoca/

paper plans (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 21 February 2026 20:36 (four months ago)
