(See The very last thread on ILX for more details).
So please nominate yourself if you wish to stay on ILx - and then we can start looking at geographical location for time shifting, or maybe IP - access sharing. (ie If me and Tom shared a login - we could be Tico Pete - then inthe post I could identify it as me by starting PETE or something).
Let us know.

So what if trolls pop-up every now and then? Just ignore the idiots. Or laugh at them. Or argue with them. That's the individual's choice and I don't want to see it removed.
I pretty much see the role of the moderators as helping us remove those posts that we later realize were not in the best interests for us or for others - I don't want to see the trolls postings removed - they've as much right to be idiots as any of us. And, face it, we've all been idiots at some point.
If the decision is made to ban the trolls, then I think that ILx should move toward a fees-paid-for-membership-and-posting-rights board. If this is to be open and free and welcoming of different voices (which has been my assessment up to this point) group of boards, then everyone has the right to express themselves. If you don't like what is said, then ignore it. That's the adult decision. Or egg them on. That's the fun decision.
I only support the banning of idiots when they become (in real life) physically abusive - and on the boards, when they reveal personal information about others. If they want to scream and shout and threaten to beat-up someone, even though they live on different continents, then so be it.
I'd volunteer for mod duty, but it seems to me that the mods are getting the shit and none of the praise. And I'd not remove posts except if the original author asked for them to be removed - and they had a damn good reason for doing so (giving away phone number, personal information, image way too big, etc.) - otherwise it stays in this ether in perpetuity. (And yes, I'd let all of the disruptive image postings stay, too - I like what they add to the content of the discussions. I'd just make sure they stay a reasonable size.)
I like this board and this group of people because there are intelligent give-and-take discussions, some laughs, and some anger - the emotional content is fascinating and addicting. I like the fact that I think I'd like the vast majority of the posters in real life, too. This is an amazingly diverse, intelligent, funny, talented, and witty group of people (even some of the idiots embody some of these descriptors) - everyone provides insight and ideas, even when there is bickering going on. No one is slapped down for having diferent ideas and ideals. Let's keep it that way.

''I'd volunteer for mod duty, but it seems to me that the mods are getting the shit and none of the praise.''
not true really. most of the time requests are taken care of and the person who requested it thanks him/her.
