This is not a popularity contest - this is a sounding out for somewhere we may end up going

(See The very last thread on ILX for more details).

So please nominate yourself if you wish to stay on ILx - and then we can start looking at geographical location for time shifting, or maybe IP - access sharing. (ie If me and Tom shared a login - we could be Tico Pete - then inthe post I could identify it as me by starting PETE or something).

Let us know.

1. Katie Grocott!

Alan (Alan), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

This is not a popularity contest. Also if we end up sharing logins - are there any people you would quite like to share logins with?

Pete (Pete), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete wins the S/C Lumpy Milk of Human Kindness Award....

mark s (mark s), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not have several boards, each limited to 100 people? The top 100 can be the premiership, then 1st division, 2nd division etc. You could have promotion and relegation. You could buy out a 'club' (like I'd pay to take over Ned Raggett and move him to Milton Keynes). It would add a whole new dimension to this place.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

that list is just posts in the last 30 days.

Alan (Alan), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

only the last 30 days matter

stevem (blueski), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to play properly and say I want to stay.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

That's actually a good idea Eyeball - quality would out (and I - like my belov'd Barnet - would be stuck in Vauxhall Conference limbo).

Pete (Pete), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

You can take my name out of that top 100 for these purposes.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I luv ilx please love me back. This all worries me; I'm afraid it's going to get ugly. I want to quit my job and learn how to code and save ilx.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Eyeball Kicks' idea is superb

I am the Birmingham City of ILX

stevem (blueski), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

haha just read bnw's post about the spectacle of publicly begging for acceptance. he's so OTM. nevertheless, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ILX DON'T DIE!

teeny (teeny), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

me and pinkpanther would be more than prepared to share (could we still log in seperatley at work or would this cause hassle)

james (james), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

As I said - we will find room for everyone in our ark - we just need to know if you are onbboard. So far its me, teeny and Matt DC. We will require a dove to fly for dry land some time soon too - or at least to eat all the olives and then come back with a branch.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

new ILX rules clearly state 'no couples', sorry

stevem (blueski), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

and no Homers

stevem (blueski), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete = mindfucker but I kiss you and then put it to you.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmm... but how do you decide/define "quality" of posts?

Nathan W (Nathan Webb), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Everyone should get a grip. Stop joking if you're serious, stop being serious if you're joking. It's like fucking War of the Worlds. I have overdosed on meta for today. See ya.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmm, i don't really like olives, they are an acquired taste *flies off elsewhere w/o a backward glance*

dove s (mark s), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

mmm meat overdose

james (james), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

if this is serious, i'd like to stay...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

What if it isn't? Would you not like to stay then?

(Again for canvassing, serious possible of physical harm coming to self purposes).

Pete (Pete), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Either which way I'd like the choice. Quite a lot of people it seems like to take temporary absences from ILX - t'would be a be a shame if folks left for whatever reason and had to forfeit their place.

Nathan W (Nathan Webb), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

we should issue shares in the new ILX so that when the stock splits we'll all be millionaires.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

im going to have to bail out after the weekend folks, i'm sure i'll see you in another life.

see you on the other side. PLUR!

gareth (gareth), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

This isn't serious. However, there does come a time when the older layer of a community starts to peel off, as the connections they have to themselves on and off line are stronger than the connections to the younger lot. A natural reaction to any change is to distance yourself from the idea that you used to be what you were, sometimes by making fun of those that haven't made the leap.

Or in short, fuck off, Pete.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

there's an off line?

teeny (teeny), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Perhaps if they're only happy to have 100 members then it *isn't* suitable by definition. I know that's not helpful, but.

I'd like nu-nu-ILX to have archel on it, though. And me.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Cabbage is cheating by simultaneously occupying numbers 55 and 56 on the meta-statscock.

I'm actually mildly surprised I'm as high as I am.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't understand anything, but it's upset Ally, and I will DIE to make Ally happy again.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, can I rephrase that?

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Do what the girl says

Graham (graham), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not upset, I'm just horribly bemused at being right about something, namely that certain people are bloody crybabies about the fact that their clique isn't being left out of the so-called clique. We can't help it that our clique is better and that Gareth and Andrew are DEFECTORS!!!

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

wow, how am i #84? i never post!

minna (minna), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Graham's advice U&K.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

My Interweb failed at a particularly bad time today, oh well. ILX isn't going anywhere, Pete has nothing to do with the overall running of ILX and you shouldn't believe anything he says ever. That is all.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, did people actually believe him?

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

LOOK ITS TOM EWING! HE'S BACK!!!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes Julio, I had to come back to fight ricardo.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmmm, our email addresses can be harvested by spam-bots now, can't they?

jel -- (jel), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, this is why I use my stupid hotmail account to post here instead of my "real" email account.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

woah, tom just like totally deleted the lists...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes thank god.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 25 July 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm number 37 on the users list for past 30 days, but Dada is higher up on the list! Did he/she post 350 random images?!? :)

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 25 July 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete = mindfucker but I kiss you and then put it to you.

I CAN'T BELIEVE NO ONE ELSE NOTICED THIS STATEMENT.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 July 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

we were waiting for you dan.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 25 July 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm sorry i posted the list - it did occur to me the e-mail addresses could be harvested and i should've checked first, but i...panicked...

stevem (blueski), Friday, 25 July 2003 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, Ned jovially told Pete "Heavens! You shore got a purty mouth ;-)" and no one blinked!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 July 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Who can unlock the mysteries of the board sometimes?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 July 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

pu t pus in my soul, you black ravens of chickory!

Mike Hanle y (mike), Friday, 25 July 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Well then.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 25 July 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i use a fake email to stay away from spam. is this against the rules?

kephm, Friday, 25 July 2003 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 25 July 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

hey!

teeny (teeny), Friday, 25 July 2003 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Keep ILX running. No restrictions.

So what if trolls pop-up every now and then? Just ignore the idiots. Or laugh at them. Or argue with them. That's the individual's choice and I don't want to see it removed.

I pretty much see the role of the moderators as helping us remove those posts that we later realize were not in the best interests for us or for others - I don't want to see the trolls postings removed - they've as much right to be idiots as any of us. And, face it, we've all been idiots at some point.

If the decision is made to ban the trolls, then I think that ILx should move toward a fees-paid-for-membership-and-posting-rights board. If this is to be open and free and welcoming of different voices (which has been my assessment up to this point) group of boards, then everyone has the right to express themselves. If you don't like what is said, then ignore it. That's the adult decision. Or egg them on. That's the fun decision.

I only support the banning of idiots when they become (in real life) physically abusive - and on the boards, when they reveal personal information about others. If they want to scream and shout and threaten to beat-up someone, even though they live on different continents, then so be it.

I'd volunteer for mod duty, but it seems to me that the mods are getting the shit and none of the praise. And I'd not remove posts except if the original author asked for them to be removed - and they had a damn good reason for doing so (giving away phone number, personal information, image way too big, etc.) - otherwise it stays in this ether in perpetuity. (And yes, I'd let all of the disruptive image postings stay, too - I like what they add to the content of the discussions. I'd just make sure they stay a reasonable size.)

I like this board and this group of people because there are intelligent give-and-take discussions, some laughs, and some anger - the emotional content is fascinating and addicting. I like the fact that I think I'd like the vast majority of the posters in real life, too. This is an amazingly diverse, intelligent, funny, talented, and witty group of people (even some of the idiots embody some of these descriptors) - everyone provides insight and ideas, even when there is bickering going on. No one is slapped down for having diferent ideas and ideals. Let's keep it that way.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Friday, 25 July 2003 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to know where these so-called invisible pages are. Are we missing out on free porn?

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Friday, 25 July 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

It is ILX's dark matter and little understood.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 26 July 2003 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't know whats going on but its made me paranoid.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 26 July 2003 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)

er, laura it was all one big joke as far as ilx closing down.

''I'd volunteer for mod duty, but it seems to me that the mods are getting the shit and none of the praise.''

not true really. most of the time requests are taken care of and the person who requested it thanks him/her.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 26 July 2003 07:44 (twenty-two years ago)

If you don't like what is said, then ignore it. That's the adult decision. Or egg them on. That's the fun decision.

What are you laughing at, kid? Wait until you pay taxes.

nestmanso (nestmanso), Saturday, 26 July 2003 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I don't feel unappreciated as a mod at all, and it's not any kind of big burden. I am glad to help out a bit, after everything I've got from this site.
