Just Ask Jel!!

This is the thread where we ask the adorable arbiter of everything what is what.

1. jel, are Poison rock or pop?

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:14 (twenty-two years ago)

2. jel, do you like my improv tape?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

3. jel, what are your thought on Kelly osbourne?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

4. jel, do you think mark s was drunk when he started this thread?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

5. jel, is it a good idea to dream about sports cars?

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:23 (twenty-two years ago)

6. jel, INXS vs XTC?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

7. jel, where is a serious girl, who really aims marriage?

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

8. jel, would you go on big brother? and if so do you think you'd win?

minna (minna), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

9. jel, did whoever won BB deserve it?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

10. jel, is being addicted to an internet message board necessarily a Bad Thing?

C J (C J), Sunday, 27 July 2003 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

1. Poison are pop. Though, within the group there is a certain dynamic, Brett who thinks he is rock, but is really quite pop, and CC who is rock, but comes across pop. The deciding factor is the pop-ness of Rikki Rocket. I reckon Bobby Dall is a nice bloke. Is niceness pop or rock? I say pop.

2. I liked bits of the tape Julio, the first part of side two in particular. Thanks!

3. I like Kelly Osbourne's album, is this question related to a comment I made at the focus group? She is better as a brunette than as a blonde.

4. No, I do not believe that Mark S was drunk. Though, he could have been hungry.

5. I think it's better to dream of sports cars than exams. Have you been watching Granada Men and Motors before bed?? ;)

6. INXS

7. This is a tough one. A serious girl who aims marriage? Hmmmm, perhaps at the library or an art museum? I think a fun girl who wouldn't mind getting married one day, would be better.

8. I wouldn't go on big brother. No TV, no music, no computer, I'd be a blubbering wreck, and this is the reason why I would win.

9. I don't think anyone deserves to win something like BB. There is always the "X must win, they are really being themselves", I find this reasoning rather strange. I would rather Gos had won, as he is from West London.

10. I would say that if you feel you are addicted and this is having a negative impact on your life, then you should step back and go for a walk or read a book or something like that.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks Jel!

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, thanks. you rock.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

11. Jel, in his fabulous hit "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", what exactly is the 'that' that Meatloaf is talking about? And are there any other pop musician who have more songs with parenthesis in the titles?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks jel! This thread is brilliant.

I shall consult the jel-oracle for advice on all my major decisions from now on.

C J (C J), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Jel - what do you make of The Darkness?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Dear Jel, can you fix it for me to go on a rollercoaster with all mu cub scout mates while eating fast food?

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

11. Jel, there is a goose in a jar. How does it escape?

Lynskey (Lynskey), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

12. How many pushups can you do in two minutes?

Millar (Millar), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

16) I've lost count - is this actually question 16, or is it a different number altogether?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

17) Do you think 1988 was the year hip hop broke?

Larcole (Nicole), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

18. Where is my mind?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

11. Meatloaf is a lovely guy, don't get me wrong, but the thing he won't do is the dishes. He'll do the hoovering and he's handy at DIY, but he won't touch the dishes. The other song you are thinking of is the rather unsubtle "I hate every bone in your body (but mine)" by Poison, appearing on their Power to the People album, and sung by CC Deville

12. The Darkness! Hmmm, I heard one of their songs, it was okay. I did however think, why not just buy some old Motley Crue or Ratt CD's. Do the Darkness have any power-ballads? If they don't then they are just fakers. I will probably buy their album in 2010.

13. Steve, I could do this, but I would advise you that eating and drinking on a roller coaster is dangerous and probably contravines a number of health and safety laws.

14. The goose escapes when I let it out. I remember this happening, the goose was very angry. Please stop putting geese in jars lynskey, okay?

15. I can do 3 press-ups in two minutes.

16. Yes WBS, you are OTM.

17. No, Phil Collins had a number one with "a groovy kind of love" in 1988.

18. Heavens! Your mind, Ned! ;) It's where it's always been: thinking about the Cure and My Bloody Valentine ;)

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

jel, will helloween ever become as big as metallica?

Tad (llamasfur), Sunday, 27 July 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

and one last one -- can you make hanle y post more?

Tad (llamasfur), Sunday, 27 July 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

19. Yes, I think Helloween will become as big as Metallica? If they just keep plugging away, I know they can do it. Plus the truth of the matter is, Metallica are shrinking.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 July 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

20. I don't have the power to make Hanle y post more :( My powers are limited.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 July 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

21. Jel, what is Food?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 27 July 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

21. Food is something that sustains, nourishes and augments. The best food tastes nicest, however the nicest tasting doesn't always do the most good. Augments is a great word, btw.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 July 2003 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

22. And can we eat it?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 27 July 2003 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

23. is there a loch ness monster?

Tad (llamasfur), Sunday, 27 July 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

24. How do you mend a broken heart?

25. Do you believe in Father Xmas?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 27 July 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

jel if you ans one more q then make sure you ans 25.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 27 July 2003 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

26. Should people stop posting after one year?

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 27 July 2003 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

27. Should kittens be fed to catfish before they become all grown up and neurotic and uncute?

Kaffeeschlaf (Wintermute), Sunday, 27 July 2003 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

28. Does James Bond use condoms?

oops (Oops), Sunday, 27 July 2003 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

oops (Oops), Sunday, 27 July 2003 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Leave the guy alone.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 27 July 2003 22:27 (twenty-two years ago)

30. Jel, why do I am alook alike a poss of porterpease?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 27 July 2003 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

31. jel, how do you manage to be so adorable yet still listen to all that metal?!

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 27 July 2003 23:27 (twenty-two years ago)

But you listen to metal too, Ally! Or is Turbonegro not metal?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I think, Ned, that the point was not something against metal, but rather that I am not half as adorable or positive as jel.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 28 July 2003 00:19 (twenty-two years ago)

jel metal is helloween and poison ... that's adorable metal! not-adorable metal would be stuff like burzum and metallica.

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 28 July 2003 00:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Tad has a point.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 00:21 (twenty-two years ago)

You always side with that asshole.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 28 July 2003 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

:-(

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I blame the hair, it is evil like the ring.

Larcole (Nicole), Monday, 28 July 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

*sniff*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 28 July 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Ted's one hell of a catch, and he has two homes!

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Tap is feeling hella left out, though.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Tad, you wouldn't even show up to our wedding, I see your style with the FAPs.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

who wants a layabout for a husband anyway?

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Tell Tap to call me. Ally and I are practically twins anyway.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

We're basically the same person, it's like a sequel to Gattaca.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Do either of you make and sell soap?

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

a harem!

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't joke about Fight Club, Tep. I told you what happens if you talk about Fight Club.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 03:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 03:21 (twenty-two years ago)

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 03:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't you know? He's an ass. Nobody likes him. Haven't you heard people say "Tap? That ass!"

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, but I bet I can get past that to the little boy inside who is desperate to be understood, accepted and loved...

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

why the masphed potatoes in buckets got put.

TIM@KFC.EDU, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't joke about Fight Club, Tep. I told you what happens if you talk about Fight Club.

Fight Club Fight Club Fight Club.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

uh oh

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, we know Aimee's the Jack, not the Tyler. Tyler would never "uh oh."

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

was there really ever any doubt?

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

She does seem more evil. I want her jacket, now.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Gravediggaz Jel, who was the governor of
Campania during the Herculonious period?

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:49 (twenty-two years ago)

yep, eeeeeeeeeeevil

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously, I have always wanted to know the answer to that.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I do not seem evil, it's just that you people are not beautiful snowflakes, that's all.

Ally Durden (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

How do we survive this pesky heat?

Which is the best dinosaur?

Will man reach the stars?

mark s (mark s), Monday, 11 August 2003 07:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Should I buy 2 Tommy February EPs for $13.30 U.S. each? One of them is a tie-in with Little Twin Stars. The other one she is wearing red and white soccer socks on the sleeve.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 11 August 2003 08:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Wasn't the last ep of 24 a let down?

mark s (mark s), Monday, 11 August 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

jel are you coming along to watch derek bailey today?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 11 August 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

jel did you watch straw dogs last night?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 11 August 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Should I cash these checks and use it to help build a Pizza Christ empire? Also why am I so sore?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 11 August 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Does it matter we stopped numbering the questions?

mark s (mark s), Monday, 11 August 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

can't you just copy and paste the questions instead?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 11 August 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you find yourself living in a shotgun shack?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 11 August 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you see I'd revived this?

mark s (mark s), Monday, 11 August 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

What is hip?

luna (luna.c), Monday, 11 August 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

How do we survive this pesky heat? Hmmmm, a tough question, I would say keep your curtain's closed, and curse the sunshine whenever you are out and about. Stick to the shady side of the street, drink lots of water. Hopefully, it won't be so bad for the rest of this week.

Which is the best dinosaur? As a kid I liked Tricerotops best, now I'd go for the Brontosaurus.

Will man reach the stars? Yes! They have to if the human race is to survive. Whether this is a good thing or not, only time will tell. Actually, I think robots/cyber organic sentient lifeforms will reach the stars, but maybe not humans as we know them.

Should I buy 2 Tommy February EPs for $13.30 U.S. each? Absolutely!

Wasn't the last ep of 24 a let down? I'm afraid I did not see this. It was probably a let down.

jel are you coming along to watch derek bailey today? Alas! Alack! I'm not. I must go to one of these improv gatherings one day. But, isn't it kinda against the concept of improv to have a gig at a set time?

jel did you watch straw dogs last night? I saw a few minutes of it, it was on kinda late. But, I did watch the Sixth Sense rip off film Stir of Echoes. Kevin Bacon is cool.

Should I cash these checks and use it to help build a Pizza Christ empire? A pizza crust empire sounds like a mighty fine idea, but please always seek financial advide from an expert

Also why am I so sore? Sounds like fatigue, take it easy for a while, and you'll feel better :)

Does it matter we stopped numbering the questions? I must admit that I do like numbers as they make things more ordered!

can't you just copy and paste the questions instead? Yes! ;)

Do you find yourself living in a shotgun shack? yep! sometimes! This question makes me think of Jon Bon Jovi.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 11 August 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you see I'd revived this? I did! I did! I was spending some time composing considered and wise answers.

What is hip? P Diddy, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Optimus Prime, David Lee Roth, Emilio Estavez.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 11 August 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

seven months pass...
Jel, where did the good times go?

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Truth be told, I've always felt pretty bad for not knowing who the governor of Campania during the Herculonious period was.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.gregvondruska.com/1airport%20comic/airport%20comic1.jpg

Dada, Monday, 5 April 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

"where did the good times go?" I often wonder about this myself, I think maybe if we stop worrying that they've gone, they'll suddenly just turn up. Or maybe they were never ours to keep? Best to think that good times are just around the corner.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

"What stories did this man have to tell?" I think, he has many a tale to tell, his boyhood in Sweden, his days as an amateur boxing champion, his love affair with a Hollywood siren, his days on the run in the West. But, story he'd tell you is the one about his uncle who had owned a horse.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

"where did the good times go?"

it's track nine on "The Second Coming".

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

jel who does your hair?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

"who does your hair?"It varies, I always go to the same place, I think maybe it's mainly Cypriots who work there, last time they charged me a pound extra coz I hadn't had a hair cut in ages. Which, in hindsight was a bit of a cheek on their part.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm...so jel what do you think of sandals and flip-flops for men? A fashion do or a fashion don't?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

also jel what is the best thing that you can cook?

That is my last question, i promise.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

where do we go from here?

oops (Oops), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

what do you think of sandals and flip-flops for men? A fashion do or a fashion don't? NO! They are wrong, unless you are on a beach then they are passable, I feel the same way about shorts.

what is the best thing that you can cook? Bacon, spaghetti, peas.

God, I'm so gonna end up quirkyalone.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

where do we go from here? Forward to tomorrow, with hope in our hearts.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)
