I shall write this in the form of a poem:
I fell in love with the girl at the convenience storeDecided I didn't love her any moreAnd then decided to reverse that decision
To protect the guilty I'll call her "Nancy"She was short-changing me when she took my fancyBy malice or misprision
I of course complained vociferouslyAnd she gave me a look which seemed to say"I'll fix it, but add some free derision!"
As she gave me the coins she touched my handAnd I fell in love, please understandWith a shockingly powerful physical passion
She became my girlfriend, stole my stuffI kicked her out (that bit was tough)Then I fell into a deep depression
I was wrong about being wrong about youMy delusions were shattered then embraced anewMy mistakes were mistakes, please hear my confession
I've fallen out of love with falling out with youDoing the right thing was the wrong thing to doI've decided to reverse my decision
But, wait, I'm back in love with falling out with youDoing the wrong thing was the wrong thing to doI've decided to revise the revision of my decision
Come back to me, I'll make it worth your whileI'll let you keep the change you stoleAnd compound interest in addition
In reality our whole "relationship" took place during the 24 seconds it took her to give me the wrong change, register my complaint, gracelessly acknowledge her error, and hand me the correct amount with a grunt. But what a grunt!

a woman with a wee baby in a sling got on my subway train home tonight. there was something about her where she seemed like the nicest person ever -- the ppl who had seats all jumped up at the same time to offer her a spot, and when she sat down seriously everyone in our portion of the car was looking at her and the baby and smiling. one bluff dude took off his headphones to ask if the baby was a girl or boy.
they got off after two stops, which was too bad, but i still love them

I was at Costco tonight, and they had these surprisingly nice jackets on sale for only $30, so I tried one on, and there was this thin, somewhat pretty although plainly dressed woman with a hijab, maybe in her mid 30s there with a daughter who looked maybe 12 or so. Anyway I was trying on the jacket and the woman asked me what size it was (I figured for her husband or something) and I told her it was a medium, and then because the only mirror was partially blocked and I couldn't see the bottom of the jacket, I sheepishly asked her if the length seemed good, and she said, "Yes, it looks very good. Very handsome" and smiled at me in a slightly flirtacious way. And I actually blushed a little and said thanks, and then a few seconds later I walked away. Something about the whole thing was more exciting than it probably should be, maybe just because of all the cultural weight that gets put on the hijab, giving the ridiculous idea that a woman wearing one would never flirt or would be offended by flirting.

Dear redhead hairstylist,
I'll be damned if there wasn't a chemical reaction in the room when we met and I realized your fingers would be running through my hair. Sorry for hiding my wedding ring under the smock - I was only indulging my fantasy life. Thanks for tugging the smock away slightly and then saying "so what does your wife do?" Anyway, you were sweet and fun to talk to, even though you're probably the kind of girl I'd eventually think I didn't have much in common with. And thanks for the way you touched my temples. And good luck with the acting, and the singing!

Right, back to dying.
years ago i saw a face that i still think about from time to time. she had the most extraordinary deep eyes, which this bit in the sexual codes of the europeans reminds me of.
A boy who went to Dijon would write about it on his blog or to his friends: that he saw a girl in a café with a bowl of whipped chestnut cream and a bowl of blackcurrants and a cup of espresso, and because his skin was the color of whipped chestnut cream and his eyes the color of blackcurrants and his hair the color of espresso
