this may have been the best day of my life

I woke up feeling strangely euphoric and got straight into cleaning my house after having a bit of a party last night. I danced around my garden to DJ Patife and danced while mopping and throwing cans in the bin.

Then I went online to download stuff and I got Burning Down by Tiga straight away which I had been looking for for ages.

Then I went shopping, I bought the Dizzee Rascal album and the new FC Kahuna mix, and also found the DVD of Jam from Channel 4, which I have also been looking for for ages.

I went food shopping and decided to have a barbecue for myself this afternoon, so I bought some meat and bread and lettuce and things.

I got in the car to go back home and as soon as I turned on the ignition Sean Paul Get Busy came on. Then they played Frontin'.

This, in a homer simpson kind of way, may have been the best day of my life.

just how good are saturdays when you have nothing to do and the whole day to do it?

The only time I ever cleaned my flat was the time I was rolling a joint and I sneezed and blew everything everywhere and I was on the floor with cocktail sticks picking up stray bits of weed of the carpet and I managed to do the whole place

Me and Emma drove to Exeter, bought sandwiches, salt & cracked-black-pepper handcooked crisps, grapes, choc chip cookies and juice from M&S, a loaf of Value Bread from Tesco, and then went to the lakes at the uni campus and fed the ducks out of our hands for an hour and a half, including all the baby ducks, and we got scared by the huge, dull-grey carp that looked like a conga eel/shark (about two feet long and thicker than my thigh!). Then we drove to the obelisk and looked out over the whole of Dawlish/Exmouth/Teignmouth and surround.

I love weekends like that, it's been a long time since I've had one.

Today is my 18th birthday. This morning my parents gave me two big PG Wodehouse omnibuses, then I went over to my girlfriend's house and we made paneer curry and I fell asleep at her house watching Are You Being Served?. It's been beautifully sunny and I've been really happy all day.

Cathy, Saturday, 2 August 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

wahey! I am now having friends in for a barbecue. feel the davis love.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 2 August 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Happy birthday Cathy.
Today I had an amusing-ish day. My manager got a green mohican, I liked it but the owner freaked. Therefore I am in charge for the next couple of days and without having done a single thing am more highly regarded purely by virtue of not having a green mohican. Strange.

If we start at midnight, my mom and I came in from a concert and fell asleep--always great. Then we woke up late and had coffee and donuts and drove around St. Louis and ate italian food and drove around more and looked at rich people's houses and then we went to the park by the Arch and then we drove back to my house and went out for amazing thai food and then we came back and watched Queer Eye For The Straight Guy and South Park and Bill Maher and then I tucked her into the spare bed now it's midnight again! So lovely. Now I'm waiting for my b/f to come home for my first cuddle with him in two weeks.

I wish I had known Wodehouse when I was 18. Somehow I think my life would have been much different.

Wodehouse volumes is a better present than almost any I have ever had! I had a good day too - went to Oxford to hang with some friends, and there was one great friend there who I hadn't been particularly expecting, and it was really relaxing and fun.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 3 August 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

What the hell is Wodehouse?

This may be the best and worst day of my life. After a fun-filled three days spent with someone I realized how much I like them. I can't wait till the next time I can put my lips on them. But they cannot be mine so such a time when it comes will be fleeting and transitory. Such joy and such heartache all in one. What a thing.

vow, you smoked up your whole flat!? or was it just the carpet?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 3 August 2003 21:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Sam, Wodehouse = PG Wodehouse, writer of very genteel and very english light comedies featuring upper-class types getting themselves in a frightful pickle. Doesn't sound charming put like that, but it is.

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 3 August 2003 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

One of the great writers of prose in the language, and the funniest writer ever.

I try to ensure that I NEVER leave the house on Saturdays before 8pm. I love slouching about being me. I can only enjoy it like this when I make it home before Saturday lunchtime though :)
