clinging gamely to georgian dreams, grandeur, colonisation even, yet, somehow, absurdly, becomes tied to a different era, the retrospectively wistful but at time seemingly dynamic wilsonia of wooley edge and leicester forest east.

perhaps this is how the seemingly oppositional regents and grand union can be describe same stretch of water without much contradiction

like a second life, 2 pasts

Wow Gareth that doesn't sound like Morecambe at all.

But you're right, it must be saved.

one year passes...

Are we talking about the one at St Pancras?

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 1 May 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

no, in bradford (but, also, anywhere. those windswept victorian blocks of grandeur, battling forlornly against the modern world - and, deep in the night, perhaps winning)

two years pass...

I see that the refurbishment of The Midland Hotel, Morecombe is nearing completion and will be re-opening for customers in June. A good enough reason to go to Morecombe?

Ned Trifle II, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 12:03 (seventeen years ago)

I'm going to be up that way this weekend. I will report back.

Stevie T, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 12:06 (seventeen years ago)

Excellent, please take photos.

Although Morecombe itself is not the worlds most exciting place, the Bay is amazing and beautiful in many places.

Ned Trifle II, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 12:08 (seventeen years ago)

Ha! I can think of a great reason or two for ST to visit Morecambe. If so, convey best wishes.
