For example, you're discussing something with a friend, like oh I don't know, a relationship, and they insult you in order to encourage you but simultaneously lessen the value of your success. Does anyone else have friends who seem to want them not to be single, but not in a supportive way? I can't figure it. Do some people just get a kick out of deciding who their mates should fancy? This goes back to the "out of your league thread a bit".

Me: "I wish nothing had happened, I'm not really interested in her and it's going nowhere, I'm not letting anything happen tonight."
Friend: "Yeah well I'm sure she was really drunk anyway, it was totally a drunken thing I'd say, she probably won't even be interested, you'd really have to make alot of effort, it could be alot of fun"
I mean, what? Thank god I know the guy and can dismiss this crap, god knows what would happen if you took his advice. I should point out other than this trait this guy is one of my best and oldest friends.
So what's up with this?
