Is it Ant and Dec or do we have to put up with omnipresent harpy Davina Macaw? And is it true that G-G-Gareth's sister is in the final 50?

j0e (j0e), Friday, 8 August 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

For a moment I thought you were going to say "is it true that G-G- Allin's sister is in the final 50?".

Chriddof (Chriddof), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Simon Cowell one of the judges again this time?

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

our gareth? i've met his sister!!

mark s (mark s), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh yes same judges as last year - and it's an ant and dec.

my favourite part of last year's series - seeing the Gareth tourbus on Blackfriars bridge. It kept stalling.

j0e (j0e), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope there are some good names in the last 10 as I want my friend to name her baby after a Pop Idol finalist (we suggested Will and Gareth as names but they were dismissed as too passé, I'm afraid).

Emma, Friday, 8 August 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

our gareth will be heartbroken

stevem (blueski), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not sure this new Pop Idol series is going to be that good - everyone is wise to Cowell, and while his manner should still entertain its bound to be hammed up with a nudge and a wink to the point of tedium. what i would is to see Pete Waterman explode live on TV.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I tried to get my friend to name hers Darius. She'd have had one of those features in Heat magazine where they'd pretend to think it was sweet but backhandedly sneer at how common she is.

j0e (j0e), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe they could call the baby Cowell (boy) or Foxy (girl)...

PS I saw the annoying singing teacher off Fame Academy outside Warehouse in the Plaza the other day. Her hair is as dumb in real life as it is on telly.

Emma, Friday, 8 August 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

but surely everybody was wise to Cowell within two episodes of the first series? I just like the fact that there is an endless stream of people ready to embarrass themselves on national television for our amusement. roll on the auditions!

j0e (j0e), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

DR FOX MUST GO!

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Emma, I hope you stopped her and told her that.

j0e (j0e), Friday, 8 August 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Nah, I did what I always do when I spot a very minor sleb and stared for a bit then walked past sniggering to myself. They love it when you do that.

Emma, Friday, 8 August 2003 12:05 (twenty-two years ago)

So did anybody see it? I loved the man who murdered Eye of the Tiger, the woman with the big norks who was going a GNVQ in buns and the man who said, when told he hadn't got through, "Yeah - well what you don't know is that I already have a career in GRAPHIC DESIGN."

There was plenty of crying too, which is always good. Boo hoo.

j0e (j0e), Monday, 11 August 2003 07:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw it. The guy who did the eye of the tiger cover was classic! i thought they were too harsh with him tho, but sadly laughing right at him wasn't enough for Mr Cowell! The girl who played the tape was funniest. Oh & the girl with the big boobs who kept coughing was hilarious! "that's how Beverly Craven does it" erm yeah it's not tho is it!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 11 August 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked the way they kept the obnoxiously loud Northern lass in knowing FULL WELL she couldn't sing in tune, purely for the viewing figures.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 11 August 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yes that dreadful scouser. I hated her. Also I hated the man who dropped to his knees and cried.

I thought the first contestant on was the best of the bunch - and they didn't let her through

j0e (j0e), Monday, 11 August 2003 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Which one was that?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 11 August 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

she sang "all that jazz"

j0e (j0e), Monday, 11 August 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Hm, I think I must of missed her!! :-(

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 11 August 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha. One True Voice have split up. Haha. Pete Waterman, you cock.

j0e (j0e), Monday, 11 August 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

EYE OF THE TIGER!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 11 August 2003 09:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Well j0e, break it to us gently why don't you! sniff
