i hope this has not been asked already!

black plastic (black plastic), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

sex. sexuality. my friends, to some extent.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the collective Tourette's of ILX is proof that anyone will say anything.

Orbit (Orbit), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

billy joel.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Not really. You'd be surprised at how little the biggest loudmouths actually say about themselves...

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Lots of things. I am probably wary about revealing too much personal information to almost a fault. But I just think there are a lot of things about me that are really nobody's business.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah same as Ronan except all but about 2 of my friends are on ILX. Oh I won't usually discuss my 'emotional life' much either. Or my family but there's very little interesting to say about that.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I would never say 'dripping axe wound' on an internet forum.

Alex K (Alex K), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

My feelings about UK football players.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't like discussing my personal life at all online, although obviously I hint at things now and again... I've made mistakes along those lines before and I generally get the feeling it might come back and bite me in the arse in the future.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I probably won't discuss my fears of sexual inadequacy.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

thought from what Ally's sister says, those fears are unfounded.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

1) Other ILX posters.
2) People I care about who may read ILX.
3) Things I don't know anything about.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I try to avoid personal stuff despite temptation because (a) you always have to sort it out yourself in the end and (b) it doesn't read well or get many responses. I have lapsed occasionally though.

I don't discuss my fears of sexual inadequacy either Horace, if a tree falls in the forest? No no it doesn't.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes there is but I won't tell you.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Internet crushes, "Black"

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

But I just think there are a lot of things about me that are really nobody's business.

OTM. There's plenty I feel comfortable talking about, there's a lot of things I choose not to. And there we are.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Lots of things!!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

it's sorta a paradoxical question, i guess - what won't you talk about? well why dont you talk about it now!

"Assdrew"

black plastic (black plastic), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

My poor sister.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, no personal stuff. I remember a thread I put up before about getting fired and about how my life is all messed up blah blah and in hindsight it wasnt a good idea and it just came across as self pitying and whiny

Michael B, Friday, 8 August 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I try not to talk about all the affairs I'm having because NA might get mad at me.

ha ha

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't like to talk about that one night in Bangkok. Boy, did that make me humble.

A Hard Man (Dan Perry), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you feel me sliding up to you?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah it is so I won't bring you up again, B

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh Ally, it's been weeks since I mentioned your sister, and it's not like I said anything in reference to that thing that you and she did together. And everybody knows that there's no way your sister would ever have anything to do with me. I'm not her, uh, type.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

shamed into silence etc

black plastic (black plastic), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't like to talk about that one night in Bangkok. Boy, did that make me humble.

HAHAHAHA. oh my god.

Mandee, Friday, 8 August 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

My sister has a boyfriend!!! Perverts!!!!

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

How does her boyfriend feel about her perverts?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Music.

I also don't talk about my personal life. For I do not have one.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not really afraid to talk about anything but sometimes I am weary of the "wrong person" doing a Google and reading it. That's life in a glass house I suppose.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I try to be nice and not mention too often how much I hate those goddamn hippies.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

That's one of the reason's I'm glad I have such a stupid login name. Cuz if somebody googles it, they'll find miles and miles of educational sites and probably (though with a bit of detective work, but why would anyone be so motivated???, it could be done) won't ever trace back to my real name.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm. Doesn't seem to be so far, but I'm sure there's something.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, there's a distinction between things I won't discuss on ILX and things I won't reveal to ILX.

There's little I won't talk about and plenty I won't reveal.

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Horace, even if they know your real name, they won't find that much.

Not that, uh, not that I'd know.

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, there's some page with some lame beatnik poetry that I wrote in 1997 that always comes up when I google myself.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, there's a distinction between things I won't discuss on ILX and things I won't reveal to ILX.

There's little I won't talk about and plenty I won't reveal.

Yeahhh, THAT.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I go back and forth
sometimes I will spill it all
sometimes I'm quite (shy)

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Plenty, but I promise I'll never libel anyone. Never my surname or the real name of the Edgy Style Mag I work for. I'm currently living with two ilXors - how the fuck did that happen? - my boyfriend Ed and Gareth, who Ed knew pre-ilX anyway, so I wouldn't talk about their personal shit or bitch about them here (not that I need to). Same goes for any poster I'm pals with in the analogue world, and also the two pre-ilX exes who also post here.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

There are two?

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll pretty much talk about anything. obviously.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah first Chris, one of them doesn't post very much.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Buffy

Andrew L (Andrew L), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you feel me sliding up to you?

Jesus, for a second I didn't see the "to" and I thought danger now - perry may be out-perried.

Sam (chirombo), Friday, 8 August 2003 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The paradox inherent in the question really does prevent me from answering. I've talked about being bisexual, group sex, drugs and stuff openly and honestly here, but there is one thing, something that I'll openly talk about (in person, by AIM, email etc.) but won't put in print in a public place. It isn't anything juicy, I'm afraid.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 8 August 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Specifics of my current or recent sex life, politics/abortion/other hot button freshman comp topics, music by and large (I just don't have much to say about it, so it's less a won't than a don't), and I try to keep my talk about religion to matters historical, and my talk about my writing to the vague "yay I did it" or "woo dig it," rather than going on and on about how happy I am to have solved my chapter four dilemma yadda yadda.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 8 August 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and -- other than the "so this one time, the Secret Service banned me from the school" thing -- specifics about various things which I don't want read if I were ever successfully Googled.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 8 August 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

1.  Where I work.
2.  Where Mom worked. (1 and 2 are related.)
3.  Work-related issues. (Slipped up the once.)
4.  School-related issues (aside from the very basic 411).
5.  Any possible crushes I may have, aside from the silly celeb ones.
6.  Anything that has been entrusted to me as a secret.
7.  Pretty much everything political. (I learned my lesson early.)
8.  A lot of what goes on in the AIM world.
9.  Personal secrets I've chosen to withhold from the group (I've entrusted some of them to some very reliable people).
10.  Sex-related things, but only because I have nothing to contribute to the discussion!

One thing I haven't discussed as of yet:

Some of my unconventional interests, though if any of you guys are also interested in missing persons cold cases and in longtime unidentified victims cases, I'd be happy to discuss that.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 8 August 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

yep. heaps of stuff.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 9 August 2003 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

the non-fun side of junk addiction

duane, Saturday, 9 August 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

'cause it's not all guns & roses

duane, Saturday, 9 August 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

google can be terrifying... don't google yourself, you'll shit yourself...

rubbernecker (Ann Sterzinger), Saturday, 9 August 2003 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)

"CAR-toons"

s1utsky (slutsky), Saturday, 9 August 2003 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Just how crappy it is getting older.

Arthur (Arthur), Saturday, 9 August 2003 03:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Dee I would like to hear about those cold cases though.

s1utsky (slutsky), Saturday, 9 August 2003 04:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, there are many things that I wouldn't feel comfortable discussing on ILX. Much as there are things that I don't feel comfortable ever discussing. We all have those things that we keep back from the world and other things that we share only with those that we are most intimate with. But I think that what those 'won't discuss' topics vary wildly from person to person and situation to situation.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Saturday, 9 August 2003 04:04 (twenty-two years ago)

i guess what i meant to say was, anything i can't back-pedal on & say " oh that was just a joke"

duane, Saturday, 9 August 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

How does her boyfriend feel about her perverts?

Like this! <hands grope about$gt;

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 10 August 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I am fool, but you get the idea.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 10 August 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Dee I would like to hear about those cold cases though.

Really? This is great! I'll have to show you the one unidentified victim case that I connect with the most.

Watch this space. Will have to make a new thread now.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Sunday, 10 August 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I was gonna say. Do it!

s1utsky (slutsky), Sunday, 10 August 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

What everyone else said. But I do want to read Dee's cold case files too

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Sunday, 10 August 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been going through a lot of really shitty stuff recently, and have been tempted to post about it on ILX. At the end of the day it just felt like I'd be fishing for sympathy (as, genuinely, no advice anyone could have provided would help) and I simply can't stand it when people do that.

Besides, surely you guys enjoy it more when I post as Happy Andrew.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 11 August 2003 01:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, actually, we prefer Andrew In Drag. Andrewina, if you will. (Hope it's nothing too bad or permanent, though.)

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 11 August 2003 03:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Pervertalist.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 11 August 2003 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

That's Andrea to you lot.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 11 August 2003 06:48 (twenty-two years ago)
